Undergraduate Student Research Internships Conference

This is a spreadsheet with case law and legal articles & commentaries that pertain to updates, interesting discussions, and critiques of Canadian contract law since 2017. This was done for the purpose of updating the Cases and Materials on Contract Law casebook used for first-year Western Law students. The focus of the research is on the Canadian context, but international sources, particularly those from commonwealth nations, are drawn from as well.

Hall Family Collection - Index To Appendix 1, "Letters From The Attic" And Appendix 2, Postcards, Kyle Ainsworth

The Hall Family Collection can generally be described in two parts. The first part is Letters from the Attic, which are more than 5,000 documents that Andrena Hall Brunotte transcribed into 16 volumes. Brunotte’s transcription project established an “original order” to this part of the collection that the processing archivist does their best to adhere to. All of these materials were found in one large steamer trunk and organized by Brunotte in chronological order. Boxes 1 to 4 of the collection house the paper transcriptions (3,330 pages). Purpose: Empathy is the ability to understand and identify with another person’s feelings, and is important to develop in students. It is often measured using the Jefferson Scale of Empathy in Health Professions Students (JSE-HPS), which has significant cost. The Kiersma-Chen Empathy Scale (KCES) was developed to measure empathy at no cost. Initial reliability was determined from a cohort of pharmacy and nursing students. The purpose of this study was to determine psychometric properties of the KCES, comparing it to the JSE-HPS for validity for students in pursuing a career in healthcare-related fields.

Chapter Abstract

The largest of Behn’s generic corpora, drama consists of eighteenth full-length plays, mostly comedies and tragicomedies. Her dominant lexical word in this genre is actually Sir, and the chapter details the way in which this small but provocative word operates as a conversational disrupter in the social hierarchies of power in the plays. Although not first, love remains a dominant word in this corpus. It is far more often an action word in her drama than her poetry, but it still functions primarily as a noun in the same formulation of body parts responding to passion. …

Chapter Abstract

Behn’s poetry corpus consists of 80 works from the long verse translation Voyage to the Isle of Love to the briefest song from the play The Wandering Nymph. It is the smallest of the genre corpora, but it proves to be formative for its representation of love. The poetry is analyzed by genres to provide a sense of Behn’s range, notably a high number of songs but also surprisingly quite a few verse epistles. While there has been a lot of debate over the impact of online and remote learning on mental health and well-being, there has been no systematic syntheses or reviews of the research on this particular issue. In this paper, we review the research on the relationship between mental health / well-being and online or remote learning. Our review shows that little scholarship existed prior to 2020 with most studies conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. We report four findings: (a) pandemic effects are not well-controlled for in most studies; (b) studies present a very mixed picture, with variability around how mental …

The SBC Costing Tool was funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development and developed by Breakthrough RESEARCH. The costing tool is based on analyses of 157 social and behavior change (SBC) unit cost observations from studies in the peer reviewed and grey literature. SBC donors, implementers, and researchers can use this tool to assist with planning and budgeting. The estimates generated in this tool are best estimates based on the literature; however, actual unit costs may vary depending on external factors. See the "Guide" tab for further information on how to use the tool.
