The problem of this thesis deals with the instruction of trade mathematics. The major problem involves teaching trade mathematics to a heterogeneous group of technical students. The final outcome must be students mathematically competent to function in their chosen technical area. The method of instruction must be flexible enough to allow for individual differences. The mode of instruction must be able to accept the student where he is mathematically and take him to where he needs to go.
