Explorations in Ethnic Studies
The following abstracts were submitted for presentation at the annual Conference, and the respondent comments reflect the direction of discussion at several of the sessions. The intersection of race, class, and gender was the primary focus of the Conference. Caryn Mctighe Musil, National Director of the National Women's Studies Association ; Betty Schmitz, Research Associate for the Northwest Center for Research on Women in the Curriculum; and Paul Lauter, director of the Reconstructing American Literature project spoke at the General Session, refining the Conference theme and providing specific plans for action.
