A recent development in education is the public charter school as a homeschool model. In several states across the nation, a child may enroll in an independent study program of a public charter school and base his or her studies in the home. This model in the realm of education is called charter homeschool. The state of California has over 120 operating charter homeschools, also known as independent study programs or non-classroom based charter schools. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship that exists between the reported implementation and integration of computer based technology into the middle schools of Tennessee and the achievement test scores of the middle school students in grades 6, 7, and 8.

In this thesis, it is proposed that when indivduals apply cultural stereotypes about their social group to their self-concept, a phenomenon known as self-stereotyping happens. It can moderate the relation between achievement motivation and performance outcomes particularly in situations that have implications for gender.

The Effects Of Family, School And Peer Support On The Achievement Outcomes Of African American Adolescents, M. Annette Clayton

This study used survey design to explore the relationship between protective influences (support from parents, teachers and peers, social capital assets, and social support use), contextual risks, and two achievement outcomes in a representative sample of male and female African American high school seniors (N=317). Responses to two questionnaires, weighted cumulative grade point averages, and eleventh grade Virginia English Reading Standards of Learning test scores were analyzed. Multiple regression analysis revealed that some support variables were predictive of better achievement outcomes and others were associated with poorer outcomes. The purpose of this study is to assess teacher's perceptions of academic and life success among high school students in foster care in comparison to high school students who are not in foster care. The intent of the study is to examine whether teachers view students who are in foster care placement differently than students who are not in foster care. 36 teachers from two local high schools in Riverside and San Bernardino County were selected to participate in the study.
