Perceptions Of Touch In Psychotherapy: A Survey Of Clients Recovering From Substance Abuse And/Or Childhood Sexual Abuse, Deborah Harmann Harris

A Study Of The Effects Of Child Sexual Abuse, Treatment, And Interventions, Catherine P. Coyle

Forty women seeking treatment for depression at a Midwestern counseling center served as subjects for this study. They completed a self-report questionnaire, which included an item on abuse history, and the BDI. The group reporting a history of CSA had …

Sexual Abuse: The Victim's Role In The Incestuous Family System, Margaret Angus Wedbush

Theses

The present study was an investigation of the incestuous family system. Adult survivors of incest were compared with adults currently receiving treatment for stress . It was hypothesized that the extent of reported assumption of maternal roles within the family system would be significantly higher in the abused sample than in the control sample. A secondary hypothesis was that the degree of assumption of maternal roles would be greater for abused subjects reporting an incapacitated mother (due to alcohol/drug abuse) than for abused subjects not reporting an incapacitated mother.

It was found that there was no significant difference between reported …

The Treatment Considerations Given To Black Sexually Abused Victims, Twana Lee Cooks-Allen

Theses

A sample of Black females who had been identified as victims of sexual abuse, were interviewed regarding their victimization experiences and psychological treatment. An examination of the research literature on black sexually abused victims and the treatment considerations provided to them was also explored. There are significant differences that emerge between the literature search and research studies of white victims, versus black victims. Explanation of the association between race, or ethnicity and psychological treatment services and protocols are explored. Recommendations for psychological services for black victims and their families are discussed .
