This qualitative research aimed to study perceptions and opinions about tourism development and on the relationships between social institutions in the tourism system in Amnat Charoen province, Northeast Thailand. The research used in-depth interviews with key informants directly related to tourism in this province, and also focus group discussions among key informants, both directly and indirectly involved in tourism. The results showed that the key informants were receptive to the government's policy of promoting tourism in secondary provinces and wanted to make their province a well-known tourist destination.
