Private Sector Staff’S Lived Experiences With Gamified Onboarding Programs, Willa Thorpe
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Although gamification is an emerging area of study, it is still a relatively new concept in workplaces. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the lack of existing literature on the topic of an interpretative, phenomenological analysis approach of private sector staff when gamification is utilized in onboarding processes. Data were collected via 12 individual semistructured interviews of full- or part-time employees at a partner organization in the information technology sector in India. Self-determination theory was used as the conceptual framework of this study. The research questions explored the lived experiences of staff with gamified onboarding programs and …

What's Your Currency And How Do You Use It? Exploring The Ways Staff On Campus Use Non-Monetary Forms Of Payment: A Grounded Theory Study Of Nonmaterial Culture, Olivia Rosalind Dodson
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this grounded theory study was to create a model that illustrates different types of personal currency among staff at Freedom One University (a pseudonym) and how that currency is being used, by exploring motives for this behavior and gathering information on awareness of this behavior. A constructivist grounded theory approach was utilized as it allows for the analysis of data to construct what is needed from the next set of gathered data (Cooney, 2011). Through grounded theory, a reason for an event, or possibly the cause for an event will become clear, which a theory will explain …

As a senior communications major at Ouachita, Chris Babb ’99 sat across the desk from his advisor, Dr. Bill Downs, and told him he might want to teach. He was not sure what was pulling him in that direction but knew his future job also would involve sports.
“Dr. Downs told me, ‘Don’t do that. Go out in the world and get some experience, and then in 20 years if something comes available, you’ll have experience and you can teach,’” Babb said. “That was in the spring of 1999. In the spring of 2019, exactly 20 years later, was when …

Tolbert grew up visiting Ouachita each summer for Arkansas Baptist camps like Super Summer and Music Arkansas (now Praise Works). He’d continue visiting campus more as his sister, Jennifer (Tolbert ’97) Byrd became a student; soon, Ouachita felt like home.

MSU Graduate Theses
Well-trained staff are critical for quality care in human service settings, but training requires resources that are often unavailable or restricted. This results in staff with inadequate training and worse outcomes for those in their care. Behavioral Skills Training (BST) is an effective training strategy with empirical support. The current study implemented a pyramidal training procedure with BST to train staff to increase staff use of positive interactions and behavior-specific praise statements when working with children with developmental disabilities in a public-school setting. Instruction, modeling, practice, and feedback were used to teach lead classroom teachers and their paraprofessionals how to …
