The diary of Fray Tomas de la Peña Published by the Southern California Historical Society in 1891, this is an account of the of the 1774 voyage of the Santiago to the Northwest Coast of North America. The diary was detached from the historical society's publication, Vol. II, pt. 1, p. [5]6, 83-143.

The map was originally published in 1755 and subsequently updated numerous times as more land was explored and land ownership changed. It includes text at the top right corner setting forth the fishing rights of the United States. Felix Cohen (1907-1953) was a leading architect of the Indian New Deal and steadfast champion of American Indian rights. Appointed to the Department of the Interior in 1933, he helped draft the Indian Reorganization Act (1934) and chaired a committee charged with assisting tribes in organizing their governments. His "Basic Memorandum on Drafting of Tribal Constitutions," submitted in November 1934, provided practical guidelines for that effort.
