Reporting Poverty In Louisville : News Coverage Of Slum Clearance, La Salle Place, And College Court, 1934-1938., Shelby N Carter

This project examines poverty in news by analyzing reports on Louisville slum clearance, La Salle Place, and College Court public housing projects from November 1934 through February 1938 in the Courier-Journal, Louisville Herald-Post, and Louisville Leader newspapers. In contrast to current academic research, reports on issues related to poverty appeared regularly, portrayed the poor as deserving, and avoided intersecting poverty with issues of race or gender. However, in support of current academic research, coverage of poverty in Louisville neglected to discuss perpetual poverty and relied on elite sources for information. Emotion dysregulation in children may contribute to poor interpersonal relationships and a variety of internalizing and externalizing psychopathological outcomes in children both with and without ADHD. This study serves to provide an examination of how emotional self-awareness and situationally appropriate emotional expression may affect an individual's ability to broadly regulate emotion and additionally provides an exploratory investigation of how these attributes may affect specific emotion regulation. The present study found that emotional self-awareness and emotion recognition may both contribute to emotion regulation through shared variance with each other rather than unique variance of either one. An Analysis Of Gentrification’S Effects On Lgbtq+ Populations In Louisville, Kentucky., Landon H. Lauder

This study attempts to examine and the analyze the process of gentrification amongst identified LGBTQ+ spaces in Louisville, Kentucky from 1980 to present day using both production-side and consumption-side methods derived from property values and census data, respectively. Using these data, I trace the development of these spaces and determine what relationship to gentrification they may have. I then compare production-side data with consumption-side data to determine disparities amongst class in potential LGBTQ+ bar patrons in Louisville, Kentucky.
