With advancements in personal hand held devices, smaller more mobile computers, tablets, and the world’s population connected with social media the threat to the user’s privacy has been diminished. I will look at how access control policies have opened the proverbial door to user’s privacy being attacked and threatened. You will see examples of how users have to divulge personal information to get better service and even be monitored while at work to prevent intrusions in to the company.

Thanks to an abundance of highly publicized data breaches, Information Security (InfoSec) is taking a larger place in organizational priorities. Despite the increased attention, the threat posed to employers by their own employees remains a frightening prospect studied mostly in a technical light. This paper presents a categorization of insider deviant behavior and misbehavior based off of the neuropsychological foundations of three main types of insiders posing a threat to an organization: accidental attackers; neurologically “hot” malcontents, and neurologically “cold” opportunists.

Are you interested in offering DOIs for your Digital Commons content but you’re unsure how to get started? This session will cover the basics of CrossRef membership and DOI deposits, including costs and responsibilities, DOI structure and syntax, technical requirements for manual and automated deposits, recommended workflows, and considerations for Memoranda of Understanding. Presenters will discuss the basics of XSL transformations and provide resources for preparing deposits, including sample stylesheets for journal metadata.

Institutional repositories are using third-party products to entice more users and contributors. Most repositories have some sort of integration, even if it is simply embedding a YouTube video. Over the last two years, Zach S. Henderson Library has worked with the Office of Research and Economic Development to provide a robust set of services for their faculty by integrating multiple products. While Zach S. Henderson Library provides Digital Commons@Georgia Southern and its SelectedWorks profiles, the Office of Research and Economic Development sponsors PlumX Metrics and the Expertise Search. As newbies to scholarly communications, Autumn Johnson and Sarah Kirkley launched Savannah State’s repository, Tiger Scholar Commons, in 2015. Using the platform Open Repository, they were involved in all aspects of planning, executing, and promoting the repository within a calendar year. These are the lessons they learned and recommended resources for institutions launching their first repository.

Although immersive journalism in the virtual world was pioneered by journalist and documentary filmmaker Nonny de la Peña years ago, traditional journalists are just now discovering its potential as an alternative platform to report the news. This study explores the singularities of immersive journalism in virtual worlds using the "Marginalized Youth Voices Amplified on Virtual Worlds" project, which a journalism professor at a southern public university received a grant to develop. The University of Missouri-Kansas City's University Libraries played a major role in starting a campus-wide Graduate Writing Initiative at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Graduate Writing Initiative is a campus-wide effort to improve the process, quality, and impact of graduate student writing. Despite the challenges of reaching a graduate student population of commuters, full-time workers, parents, and online learners, UMKC Libraries helped devise ways to extend the reach of the Graduate Writing Initiative to all. In 2014, librarians at Washington University in St. Louis developed an annual research conference for advanced graduate students in the Humanities. This conference was inspired by the desire to connect to graduate students at the dissertation stage as librarians had observed a gap in librarian-graduate student interactions between the first years of graduate school and when students embark on their own dissertation research.
