For academic librarians, especially those in tenure-track positions, publishing is a necessity for tenure and promotion. While librarians and other information professionals publish in a number of formats, the publication of a scholarly monograph is undoubtably one of the highest levels of achievement and generally well regarded in the tenure and promotion process. As librarians, we understand that the monograph publication process and monograph publishers themselves can be skewed toward particular viewpoints and that these biases can limit the topics and types of items that are published, as well as who gets published.
