The objectives of this study are to present a detailed overview of the three types of Luther research in America, the Protestant, the Roman Catholic, and the Lutheran, and then to evaluate this research. A Lutheran evaluation of this research must of necessity be Lutheran, but an attempt will be made to be fair in this evaluation to all.
