Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Managing patient care with the help of nurse practitioners is an expanding trend in healthcare and achieving job satisfaction is a priority for these professionals. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine two research questions and the associated variables concerning the relationship between time spent on tasks, job responsibilities, and job satisfaction among nurse practitioners. Conway’s role theory, which is used to explore and predict behaviors of workers in certain roles, informed this study. Data were derived from the 2017 National Survey of Nurse Practitioners and 972 participants were included. Correlation and linear regression analyses were used to …

Abstract
The shortage of nurses is a global phenomenon. The problem is particularly pronounced in rural areas and contributes to the health disparities experienced in the healthcare sector. Many factors had been shown to adversely impact the recruitment and retention of nurses, most especially in the rural areas. No study has examined how some factors such as the practice environment variation; geographical locations; and role overload impact job satisfaction of nurses. The Herzberg two-factor theory, with constructs of Motivation and Hygiene factors guided the study. In this quantitative, cross-sectional study, correlational approach was used to examine the association between the …

Secondary data sets from the 2008 National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses and examining relationships between the variable of nurse retention and job satisfaction. Bivariate (correlation coefficient, chi squares, and simple linear regression) and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses identified and connected associations and examined measurement levels between the dependent and independent variables, …
