Being away from college without a valid reason is called absenteeism. Absenteeism refers to a student’s intentional or habitual absence from work. Pre-exam absenteeism is being absent just before the examinations. Most of the students bunk classes a day prior to the examinations to cover the portion at the last minute. The present study was undertaken to observe the impact of pre-exam absenteeism on academic performance among first year BDS students. Education is one of the strongest predictors of health, and well-being. Early termination of education can lead to poorer health, shorter lifespans, and increased stress on the healthcare system. Obesity is an increasingly prevalent health issue, especially among children who live in high poverty, low income, and low education areas that lack needed resources and health care to promote quality of life. Family Medicine residents at CMMC in Lewiston, Maine manage patients in an outpatient clinic as well as on an inpatient family medicine teaching service. Many patients in the community are anticoagulated for native valve atrial fibrillation and undergo surgical procedures both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Residents are often asked on to determine the necessity and timing of anticoagulation discontinuation for patients that they see. With patients on newer oral anticoagulants and various degrees of risk, it can be a challenge to make an informed choice.
