An Examination Of Historical Health Disparities Of The Black Population In America, And Their Effects On Contemporary Health Disparities In Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy, Sophia-Evelyne Blake Nehama

Public Health Undergraduate Program

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the significant health disparities that the African American population faces in comparison to White Americans. The Tuskegee Syphilis study is often cited to support the theory that medical mistrust is responsible for these disparities despite conflicting opinions that medical distrust is not the main reason for disparities. This study examines the effects that historical health disparities in Black populations have on contemporary vaccine hesitancy. An analysis of recent sources, including peer reviewed historical analysis and news articles with accredited sources was used to make up the entirety of the literary review. Estimating Environmental Emissions From Produce Waste Redistribution In The Capital Region, Molly Fleming

Public Health Undergraduate Program

Every year in New York’s Capital Region a large amount of food goes to waste, and about one-half of produce (fruits and vegetable) that is produced is wasted. However, many organizations in the Capital Region have put in efforts to redistribute this surplus produce to the food insecure to help improve their diets. Legal, Structural, And Ethical Barriers To Prevention And Treatment Of Hiv/Aids: A Review Of Malaysia And Kazakhstan, Amanda S. Volk

Public Health Undergraduate Program

The HIV/AIDS epidemic in nations that use Islamic scripture in law has faced several challenges. The conservative ethical and political approach to the epidemic has been ineffective in halting the spread of and treating the existence of HIV/AIDS. This research will investigate and analyze research, laws, politics, ethics, and structure in the nations of Malaysia and Kazakhstan …

These include volatile organic compounds found in paints and solvents (such as toluene, xylene, and isocyanates), as well as airborne particles released from sanding and grinding that may contain silica and heavy metals including lead, cadmium, and chromium. Workers need to be aware of how these substances can adversely affect their health, and what they can do to protect themselves since several of these chemicals have no established exposure limit. State Compliance On The Cdc Recommendations For Hepatitis C Testing, Amanda Norcott

Public Health Undergraduate Program

Last August, the CDC updated its recommendations regarding what populations are at risk and should get tested for the hepatitis C virus, adding that those born from 1945 through 1965, or “baby boomers”, should receive a one-time Hepatitis C test due to the disproportionate number of cases in the age group. My goal was to identify which states are in compliance with these recommendations, and how many include the latest update. I collected data by searching specific terms about Hepatitis C within each state’s department of health website; I found that 34% of states were fully in line with the …
