The study was conducted to determine what skills are required for a vocational agriculture student to gain employment in a Nebraska agribusiness as perceived by 36 Nebraska vocational agriculture instructors and 180 Nebraska agribusiness managers. A mailed survey was used to collect data for the survey. The survey return rate for the agribusiness respondents was 78 percent and the return rate for the vocational agriculture instructors was 86 percent. The Likert Method of Summated Ratings was used to rate 40 agribusiness skills on a scale of 1 to 9. Means, standard deviations and analysis of variance were computed for each …

Purpose. The primary purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions of Nebraska vocational agriculture instructors with regard to the Cooperatives--Serving Our Community instructional unit. Method. A mailed questionnaire procedure was used to obtain information from 108 of the possible 127 Nebraska vocational agriculture instructors. A total of 78 observations were valid. The dependent variables were instructors' perceptions of instructional unit quality, value, and in-service training. The purpose of this study was to test the Teacher Perceiver Interview as an instrument that would select vocational agriculture instructors that develop positive rapport with their students. A review of literature that led to this study stemmed from three areas. These were the use of the interview in hiring prospective teachers, the teacher-pupil rapport concept, and combining these two processes into an interview instrument intended to measure the teacher-pupil rapport an applicant could be expected to develop.
