Therefore, the current study used a randomized controlled trial design to compare the effects of performance feedback and choice on the writing fluency outcomes of 40 fourth-grade elementary students in one elementary school. Participants were randomly assigned to either a performance feedback condition (n = 20) or a choice condition (n = …

Physiological Indices Of Anxiety And Self-Regulation Under Task Demands And Talk Aloud, Zachary Gerber Jan 2024

Physiological Indices Of Anxiety And Self-Regulation Under Task Demands And Talk Aloud, Zachary Gerber

All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects

Anxiety shows differential reactions to stress across two distinct constructs: anxious apprehension and anxious arousal. Differences are related to bilateral resting state activity differences as measured by ECG and MRI studies, cognitive coping strategies measure via mismatch between anticipated and actual outcomes and across behavioral performance measures. Of note is the lack of extension of these terms to physiological domains other than measures of brain activity. It has been posited that the brain interacts in a top-down regulatory fashion with the autonomic nervous system to coordinate bodily reactions with environmental information to bring about changes in behavior. Given brain and …

Tier Ii Behavioral Intervention: A Direct Comparison Of Two Versions Of Class Pass, Madeline Cordle

All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects

Disruptive behaviors are some of the most difficult behaviors for teachers to address in schools. They can take multiple forms in the classroom, and can impact the student displaying them, as well the rest of the learning environment in terms of academic engagement. Disruptive behaviors are believed to be displayed by students for the purpose of attaining social positive and social negative reinforcement. These behaviors also tend to fall into a higher level of need based on MTSS/PBIS tiered support models. Typically, disruptive behaviors fall within Tier II level of need, where universal supports are not enough, but intensive, individualized …

Disruptive behavior in the classroom can have a negative impact on students’ academic and social outcomes. Additionally, teachers have expressed difficulty with implementing class-wide behavioral interventions that address this problem. Tootling is a class-wide, positive behavioral intervention that has been shown to increase prosocial behavior and academic engagement, as well as decreasing disruptive behavior in the classroom. Tootling is derived from another form of positive peer reporting and is considered the opposite of tattling. In tootling, students report on their peers’ prosocial behaviors. This intervention has multiple components that assist in its effectiveness. Specifically, there are three components with aspects …

Employee Satisfaction And Perceptions Of Organizational Leadership Accountability, Caroline M. Clancy Jan 2022

Employee Satisfaction And Perceptions Of Organizational Leadership Accountability, Caroline M. Clancy

All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects

Leadership can truly make or break an organization with regard to virtually every work-related outcome. So, what characterizes an effective leader? Research suggests that leaders who embody organizational values and are held to same standards as their subordinates are related to optimal organizational outcomes. These values and standards start with an organization’s accountability practices. We hypothesize that perceptions of accountability will demonstrate a positive relationship with job satisfaction (H1) and a negative relationship with turnover intentions (H2). Additionally, communication will moderate the relationship discussed in our first hypothesis (H3). Finally, communication will moderate the relationship discussed in our second hypothesis …

Examining The Effects Of An Online Social Skills Program Targeting Emotional Regulation Skills For A Young Adult With An Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Single Case Study., Danielle Curtis

All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects

Social skills deficits have been identified as a core feature deficit in individuals with autism. Several studies have identified the implications that arise when social skills deficits are ignored, such as poor academic performance and challenges with social adjustment. Therefore, it is imperative that professionals find effective interventions to compete with challenges faced in the social environment. The present study uses a behavioral skills training model to teach emotion regulation through video modeling. The results provide potential support for reducing difficulties with emotional regulation. In addition, there were improvements in reducing problematic internalizing behaviors and increases in self-control behaviors.

Satanists’ Sexual Self-Concept, Samuel Danielson Jan 2022

Satanists’ Sexual Self-Concept, Samuel Danielson

All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects

The present study examines sexuality within an international sample (n = 908) of modern Satanists. Sociodemographic and religious data from this sample are provided. Frequencies of Satanists’ engagement in different sexual behaviors are also explored. Furthermore, two aspects of Satanists’ sexual self-concept, sexual self-esteem and sexual anxiety, are assessed along with these variables’ relationships with the strength of Satanists’ group identity and the length of time identifying as a Satanist. Results indicate that the strength of Satanists’ identity impacts both their sexual self-esteem and sexual anxiety. Limitations and directions for future research on Satanism and sexuality are discussed.
