This project involves comparing different visualizations related to COVID-19 and higher education in order to determine key impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on students in higher education, as well as higher education as a whole. The main metrics used to determine the impact were mental health indicators for anxiety or depressive disorders, enrollment numbers by control type (public, private non-profit, or private for-profit) and state for 2020 and 2021, and state mandate lift dates for a variety of mandates implemented across the United States. Assessment is a powerful lever that affects learning. To better inform educators on authentic assessment practices within digital education in the higher education landscape, this paper takes us through a meta-analysis of existing literature between 2011 to 2021. The study evaluates the following research question: “How are emerging technologies shaping authentic assessment practices within digital education for higher education for the period between 2011 and 2023”. To aid with the forecasting, we utilize the EDUCAUSE Horizon Reports, which provide the predictions of emerging technology. Blockchain has recently taken off as a disruptive technology, from its initial use in cryptocurrencies to wider applications in areas such as property registration and insurance due to its characteristic as a distributed ledger which can remove the need for a trusted third party to facilitate transactions. The degree to which sustainability is taught is often varied and inconsistent across colleges, departments, and higher education institutions. However, educating students and future generations regarding the different pillars of sustainability, including economic, social, and environmental topics, is increasing in importance and urgency. A mixed methods case study utilized surveys and interviews to investigate why instructors incorporate sustainability, what impacts course incorporation of sustainability, and barriers that instructors face. The Effects Of Stem And Non-Stem Mathematics Corequisite Courses On Student Success At Public Institutions In West Virginia, Vanessa S. Keadle

This study explored the differences in student success outcomes between students enrolled in non-STEM and STEM corequisite mathematics courses at 18 postsecondary institutions across five academic years in West Virginia, using de-identified student data. The researcher analyzed this extant data to determine if student characteristics were predictors of success, as defined as passing the mathematics corequisite course, retention to the next semester, and earning a GPA of 2.0 or higher. The researcher also conducted analyses to understand if the differences in those outcomes between STEM and non-STEM courses were significant. This project explores the long-term financial feasibility of higher education. With rising costs of higher education and so many choices surrounding a degree such as degree type, sector of institution one attends, student loans one takes out, and field of study, it can be hard to discover which path will be most profitable long-term. This project analyzes data from the National Center of Education Statistics to see if there are existing relationships between these variables that contribute to different experiences in higher education and financial outcomes, specifically relating to future income and student loan payments.
