Modeling And Analysing Of Complex Combat Systems Based On Symbiosis Theory, Xiangrui Tian, Jie Ying, Rui Yao, Xiaodong Wan

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: As the combat systems develop towards clustering, coordination, unmanned, and intelligent direction, traditional combat system modeling methods are unable to reflect the complexity and intelligence of the combat systems. By drawing on symbiosis theory, this paper models and analyzes complex combat systems, and decomposes the complex combat system into various subsystems according to combat missions. The combat units, interaction modes, and combat environments in the subsystems are analyzed. The paper builds mathematical models to capture the collaborative interaction relationships between combat units, finally constructing a symbiotic model of complex combat systems. By the symbiosis principles and methods, quantitative analysis …

Simulation Of Multi-Variable Converters Using The Linear Interpolation Method, Miraziz Vorisovich Sagatov

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

In this work, based on the theory of barycentric coordinates and simplexes, a linear interpolation method is proposed for modeling and controlling the operation of multiparameter converters. It has been determined that the linear interpolation method minimizes the structural diagram of a computing device, which makes it possible to more accurately determine the metrological characteristics of multiparameter measuring transducers and offer effective methods and means for processing primary measurement information. A theorem has been proven about a linear interpolating polynomial of a function of many variables, which will allow us to judge the property of linearization of multidimensional quantities from …

Exploring Students’ Epistemological Understanding Of Atomic Structure Models, Claire V. Ward, Morgan Balabanoff Sep 2023

Exploring Students’ Epistemological Understanding Of Atomic Structure Models, Claire V. Ward, Morgan Balabanoff

The Cardinal Edge

Developing a robust understanding of atomic structure and the nature of matter is foundational across chemistry and STEM courses. The development of this concept is challenging because it relies on models to illustrate something not directly observable. Scientific models are important tools used to explain phenomena, particularly phenomena that are not directly observable. In general chemistry, students are typically asked to consider four different models: (1) the particle model, (2) the nuclear model, (3) the Bohr model, and (4) the Quantum model. Each depiction has its own advantages and limitations, where instructors introduce each model to explain specific parts of …

Traditional Vs Machine Learning Approaches: A Comparison Of Time Series Modeling Methods, Miguel E. Bonilla Jr., Jason Mcdonald, Tamas Toth, Bivin Sadler

SMU Data Science Review

In recent years, various new Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms have been introduced, claiming to offer better performance than traditional statistical approaches when forecasting time series. Studies seeking evidence to support the usage of ML/DL over statistical approaches have been limited to comparing the forecasting performance of univariate, linear time series data. This research compares the performance of traditional statistical-based and ML/DL methods for forecasting multivariate and nonlinear time series.

Stellar Atmosphere Models For Select Veritas Stellar Intensity Interferometry Targets, Jackson Ladd Sackrider, Jason P. Aufdenberg, Katelyn Sonnen Mar 2023

Stellar Atmosphere Models For Select Veritas Stellar Intensity Interferometry Targets, Jackson Ladd Sackrider, Jason P. Aufdenberg, Katelyn Sonnen

Beyond: Undergraduate Research Journal

Since 2020 the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS) has observed 48 stellar targets using the technique of Stellar Intensity Interferometry (SII). Angular diameter measurements by VERITAS SII (VSII) in a waveband near 400 nm complement existing angular diameter measurements in the near-infrared. VSII observations will test fundamental predictions of stellar atmosphere models and should be more sensitive to limb darkening and gravity darkening effects than measurements in the near-IR, however, the magnitude of this difference has not been systematically explored in the literature. In order to investigate the synthetic interferometric (as well as spectroscopic) appearance of stars …

(R1885) Analytical And Numerical Solutions Of A Fractional-Order Mathematical Model Of Tumor Growth For Variable Killing Rate, N. Singha, C. Nahak

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This work intends to analyze the dynamics of the most aggressive form of brain tumor, glioblastomas, by following a fractional calculus approach. In describing memory preserving models, the non-local fractional derivatives not only deliver enhanced results but also acknowledge new avenues to be further explored. We suggest a mathematical model of fractional-order Burgess equation for new research perspectives of gliomas, which shall be interesting for biomedical and mathematical researchers. We replace the classical derivative with a non-integer derivative and attempt to retrieve the classical solution as a particular case. The prime motive is to acquire both analytical and numerical solutions …

Empirical Roughness Coefficients For Moderate Floods In An Open Conduit Cave: Fullers Stream Canyon, Culverson Creek Cave System, West Virginia, Lydia T. Albright, Gregory S. Springer

International Journal of Speleology

Open conduit modeling of cave stream floods can yield useful information about water velocities and shear stresses, which can in turn be used to estimate sediment transport capabilities. All such calculations require roughness coefficients for estimating energy losses and a priori knowledge of either discharge or flow depths to set model boundary conditions. However, the difficulties associated with observing in-cave floods generally preclude measuring discharge; roughness coefficients must be assumed based on channel properties. To overcome these challenges, we monitored stream flow depths in Fullers Cave, Greenbrier County, West Virginia using pressure transducers, and simultaneously measured stage and discharge in …

Modeling And Simulation Of Ultra Supercritical Unit Using A Composite Weighted Human Learning Network, Chuanliang Cheng, Chen Peng, Deliang Zeng, Tengfei Zhang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Intermediate point temperature is an important parameter in ultra supercritical (USC) unit. However, due to strong nonlinearity, it is difficult to determine the form and coefficients of the corresponding model by using traditional methods. In order to get a better control effect, a novel composite weighted human learning optimization network (CWHLON) is proposed to tackle the above-mentioned problems. Though the real-time dynamic linear model, the characteristics of the object are accurately simulated. In the simulation experiment, CWHLON is compared with the traditional recursive least squares and other three meta heuristic methods. The data show that the proposed method improves …

A Simplified Model For The Intermediate Structure Of Strong Fire Whirls, Forman A. Williams Jun 2022

A Simplified Model For The Intermediate Structure Of Strong Fire Whirls, Forman A. Williams

Progress in Scale Modeling, an International Journal

A model is described for the overall structure of intense fire whirls, based on a spatially evolving vortex, with circulation enhancement driven by the axial acceleration of low-density gas in the core through the axial pressure gradient. The axial acceleration increases the entrainment rate into the core which, through mass conservation, increases the circulation if the angle between the tangential and radial velocity components remains fixed. The two-zone model employs general balance equations for regions inside and outside a cylinder of fixed radius, each inviscid, the inside region being presumed to have a constant density small compared with the (constant) …
