A Power Scheduling Software Package For Planetary Habitats, Gary W. Huband
A Power Scheduling Software Package For Planetary Habitats, Gary W. Huband
Legacy ETDs
Mankind has established a permanent presence in space with the International Space Station. The next step is building habitats on the Moon or Mars. However, these habitats will have to be nearly self-sustaining because replenishment from Earth will be costly. Power for life support and other electrical devices will be limited and must be monitored and allocated. This thesis develops the framework for power scheduling software to perform these tasks.
The software includes a graphical user interface (GUI) to allow the user to interact with the power schedule, a database and server, and a simulation for the effects of device …
Developing Database Applications By Using Software Components, Nusret Conk
Developing Database Applications By Using Software Components, Nusret Conk
Legacy ETDs
Today, the software application development process is more assembly work than a "build from scratch" approach. By placing pre-existing software components together, it is possible to create a complete application. Such components provide interfaces so that programs use them for their intended purposes. The objective of this thesis is to illustrate how software components work together to make a complete application. To illustrate the ideas and the components, this project presents a three-tiered web database application. This application, as a whole, is made up of the client side web browser, a database and the actual application programs which are Java …

An Analysis Of Shewhart Quality Control Charts To Monitor Both The Mean And Variability, Keith Jacob Barrs
An Analysis Of Shewhart Quality Control Charts To Monitor Both The Mean And Variability, Keith Jacob Barrs
Legacy ETDs
When monitoring the mean of a continuous quality measure it is often recommended a separate chart be used to monitor the variability. These charts are traditionally designed separately. This project considers them together as a combined charting procedure and gives recommendations for their design. This is based on an average run length (ARL) analysis. The run length distribution is determined using two methods both based on a Markov chain approach.
Quality Control In Induction Hardness And Computer Numerical Control Grinding, Sandra Wynne Bevill
Quality Control In Induction Hardness And Computer Numerical Control Grinding, Sandra Wynne Bevill
Legacy ETDs
The purpose of this research was to conduct an investigation into the improvement of quality of the products produced by the Cooper Hand Tools Division of Cooper Industries and make recommendations where applicable. Two processes were chosen: induction hardness and computer numerical control (CNC) grinding. The Jaw 0010C and the Jaw 311C were two products involved in the induction hardness process that were under experimentation. In the CNC grinding area, the following products' quality were studied: 166L shear (top blade only), 766 shear ( bottom blade only), and the IDS-SB shear (top blade only). Using statistical procedures and designs, some …

A Cooperative Education Program For Technology Majors, Joel Lee Sawyer
Legacy ETDs
Cooperative Education is a method of higher education that combines academic work with practical on-the-job experience. The goal is to prepare students for career opportunities through a balance of theory and related employment with a business or industry. "Thus, the student is provided a unique experience. . . Work that will be profitable to both the student and employer; and experience that will enhance the student's knowledge, personal development and professional preparation" (3, p. 2).
A need has been established to initiate a Cooperative Education Program for the Division of Technology at Georgia Southern College. This study was devoted to …
