Electrochemical Behaviors Of Nonionic Fluorosurfactant Zonyl Fsn Self-Assembled Monolayers On Au(111) And Au(100), Yong-An Tang, Jia-Wei Yan, Feng Zhu, Chun-Feng Sun, Bing-Wei Mao
Journal of Electrochemistry
The electrochemical behaviors of nonionic fluorosurfactant Zonyl FSN self-assembled monolayers on Au(111) and Au(100) were investigated by electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy and cyclic voltammetry. In the potential range where the redox reaction of FSN molecules doesn′t occur, the structures of FSN self-assembled monolayers are uniform, which may suppress the adsorption of sulfate and the surface reconstruction of Au single crystal. At the initial stage of the oxidation of Au(111) and Au(100) surfaces covered by FSN self-assembled monolayers,Au(111) surface is characteristic of some protuberance, while Au(100) surface is characteristic of the movement of steps, however the structures of FSN self-assembled monolayers keep unchanged.Compared with Au(100),FSN self-assembled monolayers …

Study Of The 11-Ferrocenylalkanethiol Redox-Induced Structure Changes By Flow-Injection Electrochemical Surface Plasmon Resonance, Xiu-Juan Xiao, Yong-Hui He, Juan Xiang, Bin Ren
Journal of Electrochemistry
Redox-induced orientation changes of self-assembled monolayers(SAMs) of 11-ferrocenylundecanethiol(FcC11SH) were studied by the flow-injection electrochemical surface plasmon resonance(FI-EC-SPR).Results indicated that there existed two mechanisms concerning the redox-induced structure change of the self-assembled monolayer of ferrocenylalkanethiols:the electrostatic repulsion between the positively charged surface and the ferricenium cation and that among the cations led to a decrease in the tilt angle of the alkanethiol chain;upon Fc oxidation, the Fc group rotated from a tilted conformation to a position where the cyclpentyldiene plane became perpendicular to the electrode.

The Electrochemical Study On Self-Assembled Monolayers Of Sodium Stearate Surfactant On Oil/Water Interface, Li-Na Tang
Journal of Electrochemistry
The self-assembled monolayers of sodium stearate surfactant on oil/water interface was investigated by CV with copper ion as probe. The self-assembling process includes four stages, and forms a stable assembly. The electrochemical oxidation of copper ion at assembled surface is a combine controlled process both surface and diffusion with regression equation as i_(p) = 9.214-3.889 v~(1/2) +0.5809v,r=0.9978,compared with the oil covered bared electrode,it is a complete surface controlled.
Effect Of Applied Potentials On The Formation Of Self-Assembled Monolayers Of Alkanethiol, Diao Peng
Effect Of Applied Potentials On The Formation Of Self-Assembled Monolayers Of Alkanethiol, Diao Peng
Journal of Electrochemistry
The self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)of n-dodecanethiol were prepared on gold substrates under electrochemical conditions using potential step technique.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was employed to characterize the SAMs prepared under different substrate potentials. It is found that the potential applied to gold substrate has great influence on the formation of SAMs.Within potential regime-0.8 V to 1.2 V,the increase of applied potential firstly leads to the formation of SAMs with higher packing density, better ordering and less defects. However, after reaching the maximum at 0.4 V,the packing density and the ordering of SAMs begin to deteriorate when the substrate potential is further increased. This work provides solid experimental basis for …
