Tunneling-Enhanced Recombination In Polycrystalline Cds/Cdte Solar Cells, Habi̇be Bayhan Jan 2006

Tunneling-Enhanced Recombination In Polycrystalline Cds/Cdte Solar Cells, Habi̇be Bayhan

Turkish Journal of Physics

The dominant dark current transport mechanism in as-grown and CdCl_2 processed CdS/CdTe heterojunction solar cells for temperatures below 300~K was investigated. The current-voltage properties of these solar cells is explained via tunnelling enhanced bulk and interface recombination models which give a quantitative description of the electronic loss mechanisms in the chalcopyrite-based heterojunction solar cells. The temperature dependence of the saturation current and the diode ideality factors of the as-grown and CdCl_2 processed CdTe solar cells are shown to be well described by this model.

Cherenkov Radiation In Homogeneous Isotropic Chiral Media, Pierre Hillion Jan 2006

Cherenkov Radiation In Homogeneous Isotropic Chiral Media, Pierre Hillion

Turkish Journal of Physics

We present a Fourier transform analysis of Cherenkov radiation for a point charge uniformly moving inside a 2D-homogeneous, isotropic, unbounded, chiral medium endowed with the Drude-Born-Fedorov constitutive relations when the chirality parameter ß and the wave number k make negligible the ß^2k^2 terms. The electromagnetic field is not described in terms of circularly right and left polarized waves but in terms of TM and TE components. The Cherenkov radiation arises when the velocity v of the point charge is greater than the phase velocity c/n, where n is the refractive index of the chiral medium and the electromagnetic field stands …

The power output using fast and slow wind machines using different blade diameters have been estimated to explore the possible use for irrigation deep well pumping and small scale power generation. Along with this, 4 KW and 20 KW aero generators were also examined. It was found that, …

Ensemble Teleportation, Thomas Krüger Jan 2006

Ensemble Teleportation, Thomas Krüger

Turkish Journal of Physics

The possibility of teleportation is by sure the most interesting consequence of quantum non-separability. So far, however, teleportation schemes have been formulated by use of state vectors and considering individual entities only. In the present article the feasibility of teleportation is examined on the basis of the rigorous ensemble interpretation of quantum mechanics (not to be confused with a mere treatment of noisy EPR pairs) leading to results which are unexpected from the usual point of view.

Optical properties such as absorption coefficient \alpha and extinction coefficient k, were determined using the absorbance and transmission measurement from Unico UV-2102 PC spectrophotometer, …

Phase Distribution Of The Output Of Jaynes-Cummings Model With The Superposition Of Squeezed Displaced Fock States, Gamal Mohamed Abd Al-Kader Jan 2006

Phase Distribution Of The Output Of Jaynes-Cummings Model With The Superposition Of Squeezed Displaced Fock States, Gamal Mohamed Abd Al-Kader

Turkish Journal of Physics

The Wigner quasi-probability function for the superposition of squeezed displaced Fock states (SDFS's) is reviewed. The interaction of these states with a two-level atom in cavity with the presence of additional Kerr medium is studied. Exact general matrix elements of the time-dependent operators of a Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM), in the presence of a Kerr medium, with these states are derived. We have obtained the phase distribution by two different ways: one is by Pegg-Barnett formalism, the second is by integration of the Wigner function over the radial variable. Results of these two approaches are compared. The Wigner phase distributions for …

Modulated Photoconductivity Studies Of A-As_2se_3 Thin Films, Ruhi̇ Kaplan Jan 2006

Modulated Photoconductivity Studies Of A-As_2se_3 Thin Films, Ruhi̇ Kaplan

Turkish Journal of Physics

Modulated photocurrent measurements in amorphous arsenic triselenide (a-As_2Se_3) is reported. Particular focus is paid towards photocarrier lifetimes as a function of temperature, and applied electric field (i.e. dc) were determined by using the quadrature frequency-resolved spectroscopy method. The activation energy from the photocurrent as a function of temperature was determined to be about 125 meV for a constant illumination intensity of 2.3 mW. Its value was found to be almost independent of the applied electric field. The exponent \nu in the power law relationship (I_{ph} \propto G^v) between generating flux and photocurrent was obtained under different electric fields. The electric …

Electrical Switching Behaviour In Lead Phosphovanadate Glasses, B. Sujatha, C. Narayana Reddy Jan 2006

Electrical Switching Behaviour In Lead Phosphovanadate Glasses, B. Sujatha, C. Narayana Reddy

Turkish Journal of Physics

Electrical switching behaviour of lead phosphovanadate glasses were studied by determining the current-voltage characteristics. All the investigated glasses exhibit the dependence of threshold voltages on temperature, thickness and composition. Below holding current the I - V characteristics obey Ohms law followed by a negative resistance region where the bulk behaviour dominates and at higher values of current the samples goes to a low resistance state. The studied glasses exhibit memory type switching. It is suggested that the initial switching and channel formation are due to electronic, while thermal effects dominate in the formation of channels.

Equivariant Localization For Susy Quantum Mechanics, Levent Akant Jan 2006

Equivariant Localization For Susy Quantum Mechanics, Levent Akant

Turkish Journal of Physics

We apply equivariant localization to supersymmetric quantum mechanics and show that the partition function localizes on the instantons of the theory. Our construction of equivariant cohomology for SUSY quantum mechanics is different than the ones that already exist in the literature. A hidden bosonic symmetry is made explicit and the supersymmetry is extended. New bosonic symmetry is the square of the new fermionic symmetry. The D term is now the parameter of the bosonic symmetry. This construction provides us with an equivariant complex together with a Cartan differential and makes the use of localization principle possible.

Degenerate Spin Structures And The Lévy-Leblond Equation, Teki̇n Dereli̇, Şahi̇n Koçak, Murat Li̇moncu

Turkish Journal of Physics

Newton-Cartan manifolds and the Galilei group are defined by the use of co-rank one degenerate metric tensor. Newton-Cartan connection is lifted to the degenerate spinor bundle over a Newton-Cartan 4-manifold by the aid of degenerate spin group. Levy-Leblond equation is constructed with the lifted connection.

Explicit Realization Of Pseudo-Hermitian And Quasi-Hermitian Quantum Mechanics For Two-Level Systems, Ali̇ Mostafazadeh, Seher Özçeli̇k Jan 2006

Explicit Realization Of Pseudo-Hermitian And Quasi-Hermitian Quantum Mechanics For Two-Level Systems, Ali̇ Mostafazadeh, Seher Özçeli̇k

Turkish Journal of Physics

We give an explicit characterization of the most general quasi-Hermitian operator H, the associated metric operators \eta_+, and \eta_+-pseudo-Hermitian operators acting in C^2. The latter represent the physical observables of a model whose Hamiltonian and Hilbert space are respectively H and \C^2 endowed with the inner product defined by \eta_+. Our calculations allows for a direct demonstration of the fact that the choice of an irreducible family of observables fixes the metric operator up to a multiplicative factor.

Infinite-Hamiltonian Structures Of The Riemann Equation, Refi̇k Turhan Jan 2006

Infinite-Hamiltonian Structures Of The Riemann Equation, Refi̇k Turhan

Turkish Journal of Physics

We give two distinct infinite-Hamiltonian representations for the Riemann equation. One with first order Hamiltonian operators and another with third order-first order Hamiltonian operators. Both representations contain an arbitrary function of the dynamical variable. We prove that all the Hamiltonian operators of the Riemann equation are mutually compatible.

Analysis Of Nanoparticle Transmission Electron Microscopy Data Using A Public- Domain Image-Processing Program, Image, Gerd H. Woehrle, James E. Hutchison, Sai̇m Özkar, Richad G. Finke

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The need to easily and quickly count larger numbers of nanoparticles, in order to obtain statistically useful size and size-distribution data, is addressed via the use of a readily available, free, public-domain program for particle counting, NIH-Image (and 2 others derived from it, Scion Image and Image J), collectively referred to herein as Image. The best protocols that we have found useful for the use of Image are reported; both appropriate as well as problematic applications of Image are then illustrated with a series of TEM images of Ir(0), Pd(0) and Au(0) nanoclusters. Methods to detect and image nanoclusters with …

Chromium(Iii) Complexes With Different Chromospheres Macrocyclic Ligands: Synthesis And Spectroscopic Studies, Rajiv Kumar, Rajeev Singh

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Symmetric tetradentate (L^1) and asymmetric pentadentate (L^2) macrocyclic ligands that possess 2 dissimilar coordination sites were prepared. One has a 4-coordinate (N_4) and the other has a 5-coordinate (N_2O_3S) donor set. Trivalent Cr(III) complexes were synthesized with L^1 and L^2 and their structures were investigated using elemental analyses and magnetic moment, electronic, IR, ^1H NMR, ^{13}C NMR and EPR spectra. All the Cr(III) complexes show magnetic moments corresponding to a high-spin configuration. \Delta values indicate the energy difference between the principle bands, which are formed due to ligand field absorption. The spin-orbit coupling parameter, z, gives no significance because the …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Surface modification of glass beads with a self-assembled monolayer of (3-Aminopropyl)-triethoxysilane (APTES) was investigated. Characterisation of the self-assembled monolayer was confirmed by a reaction between amine terminal groups and thionylchloride of Rhodamine-B dye using fluorescence microscopy. Quantitative 3-dimensional profiling was obtained for all modification processes by converting microscopic images to numerical values. The reaction steps were also analysed using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

Investigation Of The Cation Complexation By Macrocyclic Ethers Using ^{13}C Nmr Spin--Lattice Dipolar Relaxation Time Measurements, Çakil Erk, Matthias Heydenreich, Erich Kleinpeter Jan 2006

Investigation Of The Cation Complexation By Macrocyclic Ethers Using ^{13}C Nmr Spin--Lattice Dipolar Relaxation Time Measurements, Çakil Erk, Matthias Heydenreich, Erich Kleinpeter

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The binding constants (K_a) of [18]crown-6 ether with Na^+ , K^+, and Ba^{2+} thiocyanates were determined by ^{13}C{^1H} NMR spin--lattice dipolar relaxation time measurements. The observed relaxation times (T_{obs}) for ^{13}C nuclei are dependent upon the relaxation times of the complexed (T_{1a}) and free crown ether (T_{1f}), and were measured in [D4]methanol using inversion--recovery measurements in the extreme narrowing limit (75 MHz). The observed ^{13}C relaxation times of the metal complexes were found to be smaller than those of the cation-free macrocyclic ether due to reduced internal flexibility of the macrocycles in the complexes. The relationship 1/T_{obs} = P_a/T_{1a} + …
