A Study Of The Influences Of Computer Interfaces And Training Approaches On End User Training Outcomes, Raj Gururajan Jan 2002

A Study Of The Influences Of Computer Interfaces And Training Approaches On End User Training Outcomes, Raj Gururajan

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

Effective and efficient training is a key factor in determining the success of end user computing (EUC) in organisations. This study examines the influences of two application interfaces, namely icons and menus, on training outcomes. The training outcomes are measured in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and perceived ease of use. Effectiveness includes the keystrokes used to accomplish tasks, the accuracy of correct keystrokes, backtracks and errors committed. Efficiency includes the time taken to accomplish the given tasks. Perceived ease of use rates the ease of the training environment including training materials, operating system, application software and associated resources provided to …

Change Of Support Correction In Mineral Resource Estimation, Marek J. Janas Jan 2001

Change Of Support Correction In Mineral Resource Estimation, Marek J. Janas

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

The success of any mining operation greatly, if not entirely, depends on the accuracy of prediction of recoverable mining reserves. However, prior to mining, knowledge about the distribution of the Selective Mining Unit (SMU) is limited. The SMU represents the volume on which extraction of ore takes place and on which recoverable mining reserves are based. Realistic recoverable reserve estimates can be obtained from the grade-tonnage curve that corresponds to the unknown distribution of the SMU rather than to the distribution of exploration sample data. In general, if the reserve calculation, at the given cut-off grade, is based upon exploration …

Software Metrics For Monitoring Software Engineering Projects, Edwin C. Lim Jan 1994

Software Metrics For Monitoring Software Engineering Projects, Edwin C. Lim

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

As part of the undergraduate course offered by Edith Cowan University, the Department of Computer Science has (as part of a year's study) a software engineering group project. The structure of this project was divided into two units, Software Engineering l and Software Engineering 2. ln Software Engineering 1, students were given the group project where they had to complete and submit the Functional Requirement and Detail System Design documentation. In Software Engineering 2, students commenced with the implementation of the software, testing and documentation. The software was then submitted for assessment and presented to the client. To aid the …

A Study Of The Approaches And Attitudes Of Information Systems Executives To Measuring Information Systems Effectiveness, Falantina Tjakra Jan 1994

A Study Of The Approaches And Attitudes Of Information Systems Executives To Measuring Information Systems Effectiveness, Falantina Tjakra

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

The purpose of the research is to examine the attitudes of IS executives to the current and future importance of some of the approaches to measuring IS efficiency and IS effectiveness in large Australian organisations. The study identified the nature of IS effectiveness approaches along the lines of whether they are business-oriented, IS internal/operational, financial, quantitative or qualitative measures. It also examined whether the structure of the IS management and industry sector had an effect on attitudes towards these measures.
