DNP Scholarly Projects
This quality improvement project aimed to compare the outcomes of lipid emulsions used in total parenteral nutrition among home infusion patients. The quality improvement project included 45 patients who received four weeks or more of either Intralipid or SMOFlipid. Paired t-tests were used to compare SMOFlipid and Intralipid regarding three liver function test (LFTs) values; (Alkaline Phosphate (ALP), Aspartate transaminase (AST,) and Alanine transaminase (ALT). Results demonstrated that SMOFlipid was superior to Intralipid, resulting in lower LFTs for ALP, AST, and ALT.
