Accreditation Commission For Education In Nursing (Acen): A Mixed Methods Study To Determine Accreditation Readiness At A Non-Profit Organization Located In Western North Carolina, Leslie Queen
Doctor of Education Dissertations
The accreditation process allows programs to complete the reflection process of program evaluation, where they assess and measure themselves via preset standards and suggested outcomes. The theoretical framework of Getzels and Guba (1957) was used to determine if the people within the nonprofit organization studied could successfully fulfill the predetermined expectations of the organization. This study also examined the value of program evaluation, explained the process used by schools of nursing that wish to seek national accreditation, investigated the benefits and strengths of attaining accreditation, and uncovered possible barriers that may hinder accreditation efforts. Leadership Role In Decreasing Nurse Turnover, Gwynne Turney
Master of Science in Nursing Theses and Projects
Nursing shortages are reaching crisis level in the United States. Many of the nurses who fill these needs will be millennials. In order to address this crisis, nurse leaders must develop strategies to reduce turnover and retain nurses on their units. This research investigates how leader-member relationship affects turnover intention of millennial nurses. A nonexperimental correlational design was used to examine the relationship between nurse turnover intention and quality of relationships with leaders in millennial nurses. A 13-question survey including the 6-Item Turnover Intention Scale (TIS-6) and the Leader-Member Exchange 7-Questionnaire (LMX-7) were utilized to survey 20 millennial nurses through …

With the ageing nurse population, increased role demand, and lack of interest from incoming nurses there is an increase in nurse leader (particularly nurse managers) vacancies. Through the implementation of a Nurse Manager Development Program, executives have the opportunity to strengthen the nurse manager pipeline and promote succession planning through early identification of potential leaders and placing those individuals through a 3-month program that focuses on the …
Preparing Ambulatory Care Leaders For Service: Onboarding To Mentorship, Kara Simpson
Preparing Ambulatory Care Leaders For Service: Onboarding To Mentorship, Kara Simpson
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
At a large academic medical center in the Southeastern United States, a gap was identified in the process for onboarding and mentorship new leaders in the ambulatory care setting. Based on the evidence in the literature, a standardized onboarding and mentorship program can improve job satisfaction and retention of leaders. A program was developed to bridge this gap and provide educational support for new leaders. Participants completed surveys at the onset and conclusion of the program with a validated survey tool. While the quantitative results were not statistically significant, the feedback from the participants indicated the time spent in the …

Perceived Patient Satisfaction With Hospital Services And Interventions, Marietta Abernathy
Perceived Patient Satisfaction With Hospital Services And Interventions, Marietta Abernathy
Nursing Theses and Capstone Projects
The patient and family voice should be heard in the healthcare setting. Gaining knowledge and insight from a parent of a pediatric patient will allow hospital staff and administrators to see the hospital experience from the vantage point of a patient and family member (Uhl, Fisher, Docherty, & Brandon, 2013). It is important to continually review feedback and suggestions from families of pediatric patients to improve the care of future patients. Ultimately, this will improve patient satisfaction scores, but most importantly, it will improve the experience of pediatric patients (Creating patient and family advisory councils, 2010). The investigator interviewed ten …

Relationship Between Job Satisfaction And Nurse To Patient Ratio With Nurse Burnout, Kayla Teeter
Nursing Theses and Capstone Projects
There is evidence that the increase in patients per nurse ratio and job dissatisfaction are leading causes of nurse burnout in the United States; however, current research mostly focuses on the hospital setting which limits the generalization of the findings. Therefore, more research is needed beyond the hospital environment. The purpose of this MSN thesis was to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and nurse-patient ratio with nurse burnout among home health nurses. The hypothesis is that home health nurses who experience a higher nurse to patient ratio and greater job dissatisfaction will experience increased nurse burnout. A review of …
