Breastmilk is the best source of nutrients for an infant, yet many mother-infant dyads do not sustain breastfeeding past initiation. Breastfeeding education and support offered to the motherinfant dyad in the postpartum period have the potential to increase maternal breastfeeding selfefficacy, and attribute to a longer duration of breastfeeding. The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement project was to implement breastfeeding education and support in the postpartum period to mothers who have initiated and maintained breastfeeding by the time of the newborn well-child check, occurring at two to eight days postpartum.
