During World War II, both the Axis and Allied powers held enemy soldiers and civilians in prisoner of war (POW) camps with little recreational activities. Although some Japanese POW camps did not allow their prisoners to engage in recreational activities, inmates transformed songs into acceptable performance practices. With the intent of improving music pedagogy, the purpose of this research was to investigate music in Japanese POW camps. Over the course of the 20th and 21st centuries, musical theater experienced many advancements and changes from its origins such as Show Boat (1927), Into the Woods (1986), and Hamilton (2016). Although Montessori’s methods may not be universally accepted in common school system, her basic ideology in regards to successful childhood development which is encouraged in the classroom can be applied to any classroom environment. With the intent of improving music pedagogy and child classroom environments, the purpose of this research was to inspect Montessori’s theory and analysis here experiences that impacted her research discovery. During the Protestant Reformation (1517-1600) reformers influenced music through the progression of Roman Catholic to Protestant principles. With the intent of improving music pedagogy, the purpose of this research is to investigate the music of the Protestant Reformation (1517-1600). Problems addressed in this research include: 1) to trace the origins of the Lutheran, Calvinist, and Anglican Church, 2) to discuss protestant reform as it relates to music, and 3) to identify reformation hymns included in the Disciples of Christ, Southern Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, and Presbyterian hymnals.
