Effect Of Prophylactic Pastes On Surface Roughness And Gloss Of Esthetic Dental Restorative Materials, Thani Alsharari Jan 2018

Effect Of Prophylactic Pastes On Surface Roughness And Gloss Of Esthetic Dental Restorative Materials, Thani Alsharari

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Objective: To evaluate the average surface roughness (Ra) and gloss (GU) of four different commonly used ceramics, four resin composites and human enamel after application of four different types of prophylactic pastes. Material and methods: A total of two hundred and forty specimens, composed of four types of ceramics and four types of resin composites were prepared to test the hypothesis. Twenty specimens were assigned to the first two ceramic groups: Lithium disilicate (LiSi2), and Feldspathic ceramic (FP). The third ceramic group, Zirconia (Zi) included one-hundred and twenty specimens divided into two groups of sixty specimens each (IPS e.max ZirCAD …

Changes In Composite Toxicity Following Exposure To Pulp Capping Materials, Audra Long Jul 2015

Changes In Composite Toxicity Following Exposure To Pulp Capping Materials, Audra Long

Master's Theses (2009 -)

Introduction: Direct pulp capping involves placing a material over the exposed pulp in order to maintain its vitality. For decades, calcium hydroxide (CH) has served as the gold standard for this purpose, but its toxicity to the pulp may negatively impact treatment outcomes. Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) has become a popular alternative based partly on its excellent biocompatibility. Pulp-capped teeth are often restored with highly toxic composite materials, but the pulp capping material’s ability to alter these toxic effects has never been investigated. The purpose of this in vitro study is to determine the effects of Dycal, a CH-based cement, …

The Effects Of Different Surface Treatments On The Shear Bond Strength Of Composite Resin To Machined Titanium, Mohammad Sadeq Aljadi Apr 2011

The Effects Of Different Surface Treatments On The Shear Bond Strength Of Composite Resin To Machined Titanium, Mohammad Sadeq Aljadi

Master's Theses (2009 -)

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength between machined titanium and composite resin using different surface treatments.

Materials and Methods: Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) specimens were ground with 600 grit SiC paper and randomly divided into 6 groups (n=20/group). Group #1 (Control): samples were sandblasted with 110 µm Al2O3 for 10 sec. Group #2 (Rocatec): samples were treated with the Rocatec system following the manufacturer's directions but the silanization step was eliminated. Group #3 (Silano Pen): samples were treated with the Silano Pen system. Group #4 (H2SO4 etched): samples were …
