Cabg Vs. Pci: Greater Outcomes For Severe Coronary Artery Disease, Haejin Cho Jan 2023

Cabg Vs. Pci: Greater Outcomes For Severe Coronary Artery Disease, Haejin Cho

Master's Projects

Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of mortality in the United States. The lifetime probability of developing coronary artery disease after 40 is 40% in men and 32% in women. Cardiac revascularization for patients with complex coronary artery disease is performed commonly. Two common procedures for cardiac revascularization are coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The purpose of this systemic review is to compare long-term outcomes of CABG and PCI in patients with severe artery disease. This review concluded that PCI was associated with higher rate of repeat revascularization compared to CABG, but the incidence …

Computer Aided Diagnosis System For Breast Cancer Using Deep Learning., Asma Baccouche

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The recent rise of big data technology surrounding the electronic systems and developed toolkits gave birth to new promises for Artificial Intelligence (AI). With the continuous use of data-centric systems and machines in our lives, such as social media, surveys, emails, reports, etc., there is no doubt that data has gained the center of attention by scientists and motivated them to provide more decision-making and operational support systems across multiple domains. With the recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, the use of machine learning and deep learning models have achieved remarkable advances in computer vision, ecommerce, cybersecurity, and healthcare. Particularly, numerous …

Coronary Artery Disease: An Analysis Of Its Biochemical, Physiological, And Sociological Causes And Effects, Alexander Velazquez May 2021

Coronary Artery Disease: An Analysis Of Its Biochemical, Physiological, And Sociological Causes And Effects, Alexander Velazquez

Honors Theses

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is a serious condition caused by a buildup of plaque in your coronary arteries, the blood vessels that bring oxygen-rich blood to your heart. It disproportionately affects millions of Americans and thousands of Mississippians. This study presents the results of an evaluation of causation factors of CAD, the physiological impact on the body, and the contributing determinants of CAD on Mississippi populations. Data on Mississippi populations were collected using the Center for Population Studies at the University of Mississippi. A multitude of individuals were evaluated when examining the causes and effects of CAD including men, women, …

Computer-Aided Detection Of Pathologically Enlarged Lymph Nodes On Non-Contrast Ct In Cervical Cancer Patients For Low-Resource Settings, Brian M. Anderson, Laurence E. Court, Ann Klopp, Stephen F. Kry, Jennifer Johnson, Erik Cressman, Arvind Rao, Jinzhong Yang Aug 2017

Computer-Aided Detection Of Pathologically Enlarged Lymph Nodes On Non-Contrast Ct In Cervical Cancer Patients For Low-Resource Settings, Brian M. Anderson, Laurence E. Court, Ann Klopp, Stephen F. Kry, Jennifer Johnson, Erik Cressman, Arvind Rao, Jinzhong Yang

Dissertations & Theses (Open Access)

The mortality rate of cervical cancer is approximately 266,000 people each year, and 70% of the burden occurs in Low- and Middle- Income Countries (LMICs). Radiation therapy is the primary modality for treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer cases. In the absence of high quality diagnostic imaging needed to identify nodal metastasis, many LMIC sites treat standard pelvic fields, failing to include node metastasis outside of the field and/or to boost lymph nodes in the abdomen and pelvis. The first goal of this project was to create a program which automatically identifies positive cervical cancer lymph nodes on non-contrast daily …
