HIV/AIDS and African-American male imprisonment contribute to the destruction of African-American communities. African-American men and HIV/AIDS are disproportionately represented throughout all sectors of the criminal justice industry, including the juvenile justice system. The criminal justice system contributes to unacceptably high African-American male imprisonment rates and HIV prevalence directly via the ‘war on drugs’ and lax enforcement of institutional policy among other things, and indirectly through perpetuation of economic hardship which further exacerbates imprisonment rates, thus closing the loop of a vicious cycle of revolving prison doors and HIV contraction. Popular Self-Help Books For Anxiety, Depression, And Trauma: How Scientifically Grounded And Useful Are They?, Richard Redding, Evan Forman, Brandon Gaudiano, James Herbert

Self-help books for psychological disorders have become increasingly popular, yet there is surprisingly little research on their scientific status or overall utility. The authors identified 50 top-selling self-help books for anxiety, depressive, and trauma-related disorders. Using a scale derived from the literature on bibliotherapy, expert psychologists rated each book on overall usefulness, grounding in psychological science, the extent to which it offers reasonable expectations, the extent to which it offers specific guidance for implementing the self-help techniques and for monitoring treatment progress, and whether it offers potentially harmful advice. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The Central Northern Adelaide Health Service is the largest of South Australia’s health regions, employing more than 16,000 staff* across around 200 separate health units and services* (*figures as at December 2008). The region brings together four major acute hospitals (Royal Adelaide, Lyell McEwin, The Queen Elizabeth and Modbury Hospitals), along with the Hampstead and St Margaret’s Rehabilitation Hospitals and a significant number of mental health and primary health care services. The region also delivers two major, state-wide health services – BreastScreen SA and the SA Dental Service – and has an annual operating budget in excess of $1.5 billion.
