Cancellations and no-shows wreak havoc on dental practice schedules, with 80% of practices citing last-minute cancellations as the main reason for incomplete schedules. This article provides a proactive approach to minimize cancellations by focusing on three key areas: enhancing the patient experience to build trust and perceived value, optimizing the check-out process with effective communication, and providing ongoing team training on verbal skills and customer service. By implementing strategies that prioritize patient relationships, commitment, and a seamless experience, practices can reduce cancellations, improve scheduling efficiency, and foster patient loyalty.

Introduction: Land use changes in the Rivanna River and James River Watersheds have increased the number of impaired recreational waters, and there is a disparity in the equitable communication of these impairments to different populations. Ineffective communication contributes to inequities in access to safe, accessible, and affordable water for vulnerable populations, placing public health at risk.

Parents experience a lot of stress in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Then effective communication between parents and members of the care team is an essential component of improving the quality of care. The present study was conducted by qualitative exploratory research method for explaining parents and health care teams' perceptions of communication in NICU. Engagement of Patient and Family Advisors (PFAs) is increasingly recommended as best practice in research. During the design and conduct of a large trial of advance care planning (ACP) in primary care, we expanded on the funder’s (Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute®) requirement for an engagement plan and sought to develop an innovative approach to fostering and sustaining meaningful engagement of PFAs throughout all phases of the trial. This study reports on the process of using an adapted Experienced-Based Co-Design (EBCD) conducted with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) consumers and cancer service staff to co-design the novel ‘Making it Meaningful’(MiM) instrument at a cancer service in Australia. Multi-source experiential and contextual information was gathered in phase 1 of the co-design and this evidence, coupled with knowledge gathered via a feedback event was used to inform three co-design workshops in phase 2. Baccalaureate nursing and sign language interpreting students participated in a pediatric discharge simulation with a deaf person playing the role of the baby’s parent. At the conclusion of the simulation, participants were emailed a consent letter and a link to a 17-item questionnaire developed by the authors. Responses were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively, whereby nonparametric statistics were calculated to examine Likert-scale items. A Mann-Whitney test statistic was calculated, instead of an independent samples t-test, given the smaller sample in the current study (n = 26). The dominant culture across North America, Europe and Australia has been characterized by workers in hospice and palliative care as ‘death denying’ or ‘death phobic’. The last two decades have seen a significant increase in the number of trauma patients with complex background co-morbidities due to advanced age. Effective end-of-life care in trauma requires physicians to begin careful, balanced and sensitive conversations encompassing goals of care and expectation-setting, in the trauma bay. The authors employed a scoping review to examine peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2017 and 2020 focusing on the relationship between food insecurity among deaf and hard of hearing (DHOH) populations and language barriers using American Sign Language (ASL). Four databases yielded 257 peer-reviewed articles during the initial search. Four peer-reviewed articles were included in the review to explore the relationship between food insecurity among DHOH populations and language barriers using ASL. Hospital administrators and researchers often use large, standardized surveys that examine patient satisfaction to evaluate whether interventions improve patient experience. To summarize the breadth of these interventions and how large, standardized surveys are used to evaluate them, a multidisciplinary research team conducted a review. They used PubMed and Google Scholar searches, reviews of reference lists and targeted searches to locate studies. They evaluated one hundred and twenty-four articles and fifty-eight articles met the inclusion criteria for the narrative review. Background: Parent-mediated occupational therapy (OT) is a family-centered method of providing care for children and their families. This study aimed to understand and describe the parents’ perspectives of whether parent-mediated OT services improve child participation and parent-child social interactions in the home and community.

Our home health (HH) division has collected Home Health Care CAHPS® Survey (HHCAHPS) data since 2011. To date, HH providers have not met performance thresholds related to patient experience. This study aimed to explore HHCAHPS composite measures and specific questions to predict 1) overall rating of care provided by the agency (Care Rating) and 2) willingness to recommend home health agency to family and friends (Recommend Agency). The aim of this study was to explore perceptions and knowledge of source isolation among hospitalised patients colonised or infected with multi-resistant organisms, to identify if information provided and delivery method are helpful and appropriate, and to identify areas for practice improvements. Purposive sampling was conducted. Between November 2019 and January 2020, bedside interviews with structured questionnaires (combining multiple-choice and free-text questions) were conducted with adult in-patients requiring isolation for multi-resistant organisms in a 180-bed metropolitan hospital in Brisbane, Australia. Grounded in a presupposition that a single explanatory framework cannot fully account for the expansive learning processes that occur during medical residency, the article examines developing physicians’ reflective writing from three disciplinary lenses. The goal is to understand how the multi-dimensional nature of medical residency translates into assembling educational experiences and constructing meaning that cannot be fully explained through a single discipline. An interdisciplinary research team across medical education, communication, and ethics qualitatively analyzed reflective entries (N=756) completed by family medicine residents (N=33) across an academic year. In June 2020, young adults comprised 20% of the COVID-19 cases and asymptomatic individuals were seen as “carriers” taking the virus into their homes and social settings. As with many health issues, the minority population was dealing with worse health outcomes. African Americans young adults were not excluded from this circumstance. In Mississippi, the group had some of the highest rates of COVID-19 in the state. This has a negative impact on patient safety, with half of all adverse events being attributed to communication failures. However, human factors have the capacity to protect patients. Child- and family-centered care (FCC) is increasingly accepted and implemented to optimize the healthcare experience for patients, their families, and healthcare professionals. Standish Foundation for Children, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has designed and piloted a fellowship to educate pediatric healthcare professionals in FCC & psychosocial care via an inquiry and mentorship model in Tbilisis, Georgia. This review aimed to evaluate and synthesize existing literature on psychosocial and FCC mentorship for pediatric healthcare professionals in four parts: ongoing need, effects on healthcare professionals, effects on children and their families and/or caregivers, and in cross-country healthcare settings.
