This poster presentation will discuss the implementation of simulation-based education in the undergraduate nursing curriculum to increase preparedness in caring for adolescent patients with symptoms of depression and suicidal ideation. This topic aligns with the conference’s theme by identifying the importance of introducing nursing students to urgent and life-threatening simulated healthcare events prior to graduation. The plan for this presentation is to impart information to others regarding the use of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning’s standards of best practice when implementing innovative, simulation-based education for nursing students. Purpose: To explore if patient participation in the NP led HF clinic may reduce 30-day HF readmissions while providing HF specific education, recognition of symptoms/ management, teaching self-care, while ensuring that continued follow up occurs.
Research Questions: 1) Is there a significant difference between readmission rates in patients followed in the HF clinic compared to general HF follow up? 2) Is there a significant difference in patient knowledge including HF symptoms, self-management for patients followed in the NP led HF clinic for a minimum of 30 days? 3) How satisfied are patients that followed in the NP led HF clinic …

A Qualitative Descriptive Analysis Of Erowid Gabapentinoid Forum Posts, Haylee E Figg Rn Bsn Student, Rachel Vickers-Smith Phd, Mph
Undergraduate Arts and Research Showcase
Purpose/Background: With increased controls on opioid prescribing, the CDC has suggested prescribing gabapentinoids as a first-line alternative to opioids for pain. However, there have been an increasing number of reports of gabapentinoid misuse. Drug use forums are online spaces where individuals can anonymously post about their drug use experiences and may provide insight on gabapentinoid misuse. The purpose of this study was to extract and analyze posts from the drug use forum, Erowid, to examine reports of gabapentinoid misuse.
Methods: Data for the study was drawn from 53 pregabalin forum posts and 89 gabapentin forum posts by unique usernames. In …

This impact evaluation study was designed on the basis of quality and accountability. It focused on sourcing evidence regarding the impact and achievements of a 15-year investment in nursing education and workforce capacity building.
