Electrocardiographic Prediction Of Culprit Artery In Acute St-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction, Abdulla M. Kamal, Ghada M. Soltan, Momen A. A. Ali

Menoufia Medical Journal

Background Early prediction of the site and proximity of the occlusion in the culprit artery is essential from a clinical point of view. Objective This study aimed to assess the accuracy of previously defined ECG criteria determined from ECG angiographic correlative studies in predicting not only the infarct-related artery but also the site of the culprit lesion within that artery. Patients and methods ECG and angiographic findings were correlated in 187 patients with an ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Results In the first group (Anterior ST elevation Myocardial infarction; STEMI), ECG criteria that predict the angiographic findings showed sensitivity and …

Prevalence And Predictors Of Renal Artery Stenosis In Hypertensive Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography, Ashraf F. Abd-Allah, Awny G. Shalaby, Mahmoud A. Soliman, Mohamed M. Seleem Sep 2018

Prevalence And Predictors Of Renal Artery Stenosis In Hypertensive Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography, Ashraf F. Abd-Allah, Awny G. Shalaby, Mahmoud A. Soliman, Mohamed M. Seleem

Objective The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and predictors of renal artery stenosis (RAS) in hypertensive patients undergoing elective coronary angiography. Background Hypertension and ischemic nephropathy are the most important consequences of RAS. Ischemic nephropathy progresses to end-stage renal disease in 6–17% of patients. RAS is the most common potentially reversible disorder leading to renal replacement therapy; in recent years, efforts have been made to determine the prevalence of RAS and its predictors among patients with coronary artery disease. Patients and methods In a cross-sectional study, between March 2013 and October 2016, 200 hypertensive patients, candidates …

Efficacy Of High-Dose Atorvastatin In Preventing Contrast-Induced Nephropathy In Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography, Awny Gamal, Osama R. Kandeel, Saied Shalaby Sep 2018

Efficacy Of High-Dose Atorvastatin In Preventing Contrast-Induced Nephropathy In Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography, Awny Gamal, Osama R. Kandeel, Saied Shalaby

Menoufia Medical Journal

Objective The aim of this study was to examine the efficacy of high-dose atorvastatin in preventing contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) in statin-naive patients with moderate or high risk of CIN undergoing coronary angiography. Background CIN occurs in 20–30% of patients who receive standard preventive measures. This means that current treatments are not adequate. Patients and methods The present study included 300 patients scheduled for coronary angiography. They were randomized into two groups: the atorvastatin group received 80-mg atorvastatin 12 h before the procedure, with a further 40-mg preprocedural dose, and the placebo group did not receive the loading dose of atorvastatin. …

Objective Chemerin is a novel adipokinine that is associated with inflammation and adipogenesis. Our aim was to study the relationship between serum chemerin and coronary artery disease (CAD) in angiographically documented participants and participants without CAD among patients with diabetes mellitus and those without diabetes mellitus. Background Chemerin is one of the adipokines that is linked to fat metabolism and thought to be linked to atherosclerosis and CAD. Patient and methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 80 patients recruited from among patients presenting to the catheter laboratory of Sharq Al-Madina Hospital in Alexandria. Participants were divided into the following …
