Objective The aim of this study was to determine the value of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) as an early diagnostic marker for diabetes mellitus in high-risk groups such as relatives of diabetic patients (siblings) and obese children. Objective This study was designed to determine the role of diabetes mellitus (DM) in the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in patients with liver cirrhosis. Background DM and its complications may play a role in the mortality of hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related cirrhotic patients. Aim of the work The aim of this observational study was to quantify the incidence of urinary tract infections (UTI) among diabetic patients and to compare this risk to patients without diabetes in Damietta hospital. Objective To study the risk factors for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) in Menoufia University Hospitals. Background Problems associated with the diabetic foot are prevalent worldwide. Objectives This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical usefulness of cystatin C levels in the serum in predicting renal impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes. Background In clinical practice, the glomerular filtration rate is often estimated from plasma creatinine levels. Several studies have shown cystatin C to be a better marker for the diagnosis of impaired renal function. Materials and methods Plasma samples were obtained from 20 healthy individuals and 40 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 for the determination of the levels of creatinine and cystatin.
