The Effectiveness Of The More Than Sad School Based Gatekeeper Training Program, Guy Diamond, Lawrence Ogunkua, Matthew B. Wintersteen, Tita Atte, Perri Rosen, Robert Gallop

Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior Faculty Papers

Schools have the unique opportunity to identify and refer youth at risk for suicide. School-based gatekeeper training programs aim to improve staff’s ability to talk to students about mental health concerns and refer them for an assessment. Unfortunately, progress in evaluating the available programs has been limited. In fact, the popular and widely used More Than Sad program has received no rigorous evaluation to date. This study sets out to evaluate the effectiveness of the More Than Sad program in a quasi-experimental, wait-list control design with a large number of school personnel, across geographically diverse communities. Fourteen school districts with …

Efficacy Of Work-Related Training For Individuals With Autism Spectrum Disorder, E. Anderson, L. Hatton, K. Schlager, A. Shea, K. Watlington, M. Ferraro, M. C. Potvin

Student Papers, Posters & Projects

Research suggests that traditional models of work-related training, in addition to a lack of on-the-job support, may exacerbate difficulties experienced by individuals with autism spectrum disorder with obtaining and maintaining employment

The poor employment outcomes experienced by individuals with ASD are well-documented throughout literature and have resulted in the need to examine more effective ways of providing support and work-related interventions.

Although research has investigated the efficacy of work-related training on successful employment outcomes when used with individuals with ASD, a systematic review summarizing this evidence has yet to be published. Therefore, this review examines and interprets current research evidence …

Jefferson Clinical Research Institute Posters

Purpose

Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) is a rapidly growing, geographically dispersed academic healthcare system. Research personnel must navigate essential resources and services buried within a multitude of siloed platforms and websites. Jefferson Clinical Research Institute (JCRI) provides centralized support to research personnel and investigators and recognizes the need to efficiently connect staff with these resources. TJU launched a new platform that allows employees to access benefits information, payroll, time-off, and mandatory learning. This platform also features virtual “communities” designed for networking and sharing information. JCRI created one such community to link personnel with resources and services (Figure1). We evaluated its …

Scanning For Qi: Resident And Sonographer Driven Improvement Of Radiology Resident Ultrasound Technique, Brian Blumhof, Md, Corinne Wessner, Bs, Rdms, Rvt, Kristen Mcclure, Md

House Staff Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Conference (2016-2019)

Objective

The aim of this structural QI project is to improve the educational ultrasound curriculum , thus improving overall resident confidence and technical ability in acquiring diagnostic quality sonographic images.

Comparing resident confidence levels and performance against their initial benchmarks as well as against yearly cohorts, we plan to create a long standing addition to the radiology residency at Jefferson, with plans to include additional ultrasound examinations as the curriculum becomes more robust.

Stakeholders include not only the radiology residency, which would benefit from improved resident education and knowledge, but also the hospital and ultimately patients, who stand to benefit …

Department of Emergency Medicine Faculty Papers

Introduction: Given the rapid expansion of telehealth (TH), there is an emerging need for trained professionals who can effectively deliver TH services. As there is no formal TH training program for residents, the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) developed a pilot training program for senior post-graduate-year three (PGY-3) residents that exposed them to TH practices. The objective of the study was to determine the feasibility of developing a resident-led, post-Emergency-Department (ED) visit TH follow-up program as an educational opportunity to 1) address patient satisfaction; and 2) expose senior residents to TH delivery.

Methods: During …
