As America grows increasingly diverse, there is a recognized need for increased cultural competence in Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and other healthcare workers. Research has shown that when health care providers are not attentive to providing culturally competent care, there is a subsequent negative impact on the quality, safety and cost of patient care.
