International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the efficiency of using dehydrated de-epithelialized amnion chorion membrane (ddACM) on socket preservation in the anterior region, clinically and radiographically. Materials and methods: 26 unrestorable maxillary anterior or single rooted premolars, with buccal fenestration, were selected. The socket was filled with allograft material and covered with ddACM for study group, and collagen membrane for the control group divided equally. Clinical parameters including gingival healing and tissue thickness was assessed. Volumetric bone change was measured 4 months later using a CBCT. Results: Study group showed clinical statistical significant results than …

Objective

This study was designed to evaluate the retromolar as a new donor site and its ability to augment the alveolar ridge horizontal and/or vertical defects prior to implant placement.

Method

Twelve patients were selected for future implant placement after anterior maxillary ridge augmentation. CBCTs were performed preoperative, immediate postoperative and 6 months postoperative. After induction of general anesthesia, an envelope flap full mucoperiosteal flap was raised to expose the maxillary alveolar ridge defect. A donor site full thickness flap was elevated to expose the lateral body of the ramus, The graft was fixed in all the twelve patients but …

Placement of occlusive barrier membranes in guided tissue regeneration procedures is thought to deprive the wound area from the regenerative capacity of periosteal and gingival mesenchymal stem cells. The current study was performed to determine the effect of perforated collagen membranes in enhancing periodontal tissue regeneration when compared to conventional occlusive barriers. Sixteen critical-sized dehiscence defects (4×5 mm) were surgically created in the mandibular canine teeth of eight dogs, bilaterally. Eight defects were managed by β-Tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) alloplast and modified perforated collagen membrane, the contra lateral defects were managed by β-TCP alloplast and occlusive collagen membrane. Dogs were sacrificed …
