University libraries can be an integral part of student wellness initiatives, and this poster presentation will present one academic library’s engagement in student wellness initiatives. • Highlight the ways campus partnerships facilitated streamlined library engagement in student wellness

The intent of the project was to improve the community’s knowledge of depression symptoms and the community resources available that offer assistance to those dealing with these symptoms. Problem: The 90-day mRS post discharge call project aimed to improve the outreach in stroke patients treated with thrombolytics alone or in combination with mechanical endovascular reperfusion (MER) therapy. An audit of calls was completed and revealed a gap that a number of patients were not reached or did not receive a call attempt. Having a higher outreach provides useful feedback on the patient’s progress within 90-days of being discharged in relation to the effectiveness of the stroke treatment received according to the mRS.

Children who have ongoing healthcare coverage benefit from improved health, education, and economic outcomes due to increased preventive services use and regular school attendance. These factors play a crucial part in determining a child’s level of education and future economic status. However, children eligible for publicly funded health insurance remain uninsured or experience “churning” throughout childhood and adolescence. Barriers to healthcare retention include lack of program awareness and understanding of the application process and belief that healthcare coverage only provides marginal benefits. International migration has economic and health implications. The acculturation process to the host country may be linked to childhood obesity. We use the Community Energy Balance (CEB) framework to analyze the relationship between migration and childhood obesity in Mexican households with international migrants. Using longitudinal data from the Mexican Family Life Survey (MxFLS), we examine how migrant networks affect childhood obesity in origin communities. We also review binational health programs that could be effective at tackling childhood obesity in migrant households from Mexico. Children embedded in migrant networks are at greater risk of developing overweight or obesity, suggesting a significant …

The “Clinical Experience” program at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College, established in 2017, provides pre-clerkship students with an opportunity to identify and address patients’ needs for social determinants of health (SDoH). The COVID-19 pandemic led to a suspension of the student program in the clinical environment, but the CHWs continued to address patients’ social needs from a remote setting. Mesa Verde Gardens has been a great asset in the Watsonville and Pajaro area by providing a unique way for people to live healthier lives. The community gardens have given people an opportunity to reach new standards for themselves. The organic produce being grown out of the seven different gardens in the area has accommodated the gardeners with delicious food for the entire season. In order to grow Mesa verde Gardens, an outreach project was conducted to allow people to familiarize with all seven gardens. The people attending health fairs (n = 467), community events (n = 469), and Kindergarten classes (n = 241) were the study participants. Hands-on training was offered at homebuilding retail stores (n = 25). Agricultural advisers play an important role in helping producers decide to adopt appropriate adaptation practices. Photovisualizations have the potential to complement currently utilized outreach and education strategies. This research uses a focus group approach to explore (1) whether photovisualizations can aid in decision-making about climate change adaptation, and (2) what characteristics of photovisualizations are most effective at conveying spatial aspects of adaptation practices. In Home Supportive Services Public Authority (IHSSPA) is a Medi-Cal funded organization that helps the elderly and disabled living in San Francisco find care and support at home. The Public Authority component of IHSS specializes in providing support to their clients or “consumers” when attempting to hire home care workers or “providers.” However, IHSSPA services remain relatively unknown throughout many communities in San Francisco county and there is a need for increased community outreach. Introduction: Since its invention by German anatomist Gunther von Hagens, the process of forced-impregnation plastination of organic specimens has become the standard for the preservation of biological tissue specimens. This practice serves as the most practical method to preserve these specimens for study and is utilized at PCOM regularly for this purpose. During the steps of plastination, aqueous and lipid tissues are replaced by a curable polymer to produce plastinates that do not decompose, can be handled without gloves, and retain most characteristics of the original specimens. African American men continue to bear a disproportionate share of the burden of disease. Engaging these men in health research and health promotion programs—especially lower-income, African American men who are vulnerable to chronic disease conditions such as obesity and heart disease—has historically proven quite difficult for researchers and public health practitioners. Family caregivers of hospice patients experience an increased burden due to providing ongoing care. Research on the issue produces no consensus on evidence-based programs to alleviate the burden. Respite or relief services continue to be the primary solution applied to the problem. Central Coast Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice supported a project to address caregiver burden. Hospice provides volunteers to families to reduce the caregiver burden. The project consists of outreach and recruitment to obtain new volunteers that continue to deliver respite within the community. As an effort to address the growing need for mental health education, our organization piloted Indiana’s first Ending the Silence program.
