The Effect Of A Positive Work Culture In Emergency Service Nurses: An Ebp Proposal, Brianna M. Fitzgerald

MSN Capstone Projects

This paper aims to address the spirit of inquiry of the effect a safe work environment has on compassion fatigue in nurses in the emergency department (ED). The World Health Organization promotes an eager approach to the battle of compassion fatigue in frontline healthcare workers, stating, "Unless this is addressed, it will further add to the global nursing workforce shortage." (Stafford et al., 2022, p. 1853). Unfortunately, 69% of nurses under the age of 25 report burnout from working conditions (American Nurses Association, 2022). Improving nurses' job satisfaction and motivation levels is necessary to increase the effectiveness of nursing services …

Block Charting For Hemodynamic Unstable Patients, Tasha Walker Dec 2023

Block Charting For Hemodynamic Unstable Patients, Tasha Walker

Student Scholarly Projects

Practice Problem: The intensive care unit poses many challenges for nurses. Nurses are placed in a position to decide on dosing and administration, which could conflict with their scope of practice, and documentation needs to coincide with orders. The accuracy of nursing documentation plays a vital role in measuring the outcomes, and failure to document accurately could result in noncompliance with scope of practice or a medication error.

PICOT: For intensive care nurses (P), how does block charting of vasoactive medications (I) compared to current documentation practices (C) affect the accuracy of nurses' documentation (O) within 4 weeks?

Evidence: Nursing …

Shift Change: Minimizing The Covid-19 Nursing Shortage And Decreasing Nursing Burnout, Suzanne R. Baker

MSN Capstone Projects

Burnout and the nursing shortage of the healthcare system is not a new issue for nurses, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused this problem to only get worse (Young, 2021). Most healthcare facilities are severely understaffed. The nursing shortage and symptoms of burnout among nurses working in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) and other high-demand COVID-19 nursing units have been magnified by the COVID-19 pandemic. Inferior working conditions such as increased work times, increased workload, and decreased training in the care of COVID-19 patients magnified nursing burnout and the ongoing nursing shortage (Galanis et al., 2021). Discovering ways to reduce the …

The Use Of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction To Reduce Stress And Burnout In Nurses, Sherri Foreman

MSN Capstone Projects

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) has been used effectively in multiple clinical settings to reduce workplace stress and burnout in nurses. The MBSR’s cost-effective approach to stress management can be implemented into any healthcare facility’s policy. The topic of MBSR’s effect on stress and burnout has been identified as essential due to nurses working in fast-paced, stressful work environments. Examining Racial Disparities In Unemployment Among Health Care Workers Before, During, And After The Covid-19 Pandemic, Jason Semprini

Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews

Among the U.S. health care workforce, the COVID-19 pandemic appeared to greatly impact employment levels in 2020. However, no research has examined how the pandemic’s impact on employment varied by racial/ethnic group or beyond the initial emergency year. Our study aimed to quantitatively evaluate workforce trends by race/ethnicity before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study analyzed each March supplement of the Current Population Survey over a 5-year span (2018–2022). We restricted the sample to nurses, physician assistants, and other non-physician health care workers (HCW), per specific census occupation codes, and constructed an event-history study to test for differential …
