A recombinant baculovirus encoding a single-chain murine major histocompatibility complex class I molecule in which the first three domains of H-2Kd are fused to beta 2-microglobulin (beta 2-m) via a 15-amino acid linker has been isolated and used to infect lepidopteran cells. A soluble, 391-amino acid single-chain H-2Kd (SC-Kd) molecule of 48 kDa was synthesized and glycosylated in insect cells and could be purified in the absence of detergents by affinity chromatography using the anti-H-2Kd monoclonal antibody SF1.1.1.1. Failure Of The Congo Red Dye Uptake Test To Discriminate Between Virulent And Avirulent Avian Escherichia Coli, Kathy R. Spears, Richard E. Wooley, John Brown, Lisa K. Nolan

Twenty avian Escherichia coli isolates from normal and diseased chickens were compared by use of three virulence tests. These tests included the uptake of Congo red dye, an embryo lethality test, and a quantitative microtiter complement resistance test. A direct correlation was seen between the results of the complement resistance test and the embryo lethality test. The results of the Congo red test did not correlate with the two other tests.

The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

An intervention research project with homeless, chronically mentally ill persons demonstrated that linking rehabilitation services, such as employment skills and psycho-social stabilization, with survival services promotes success in serving this population. The project confirmed the central role of case managers in promoting engagement with mental health services and re-integration into stable community living.

รายงานการเกิดลูกกระบือแฝดจำนวน 3 คู่จากแม่กระบือที่ได้รับการปรับขนานการ เป็นสัดด้วยฮอร์โมนนอร์เกสโตเมท ร่วมกับการฉีดฮอร์โมน PMSG จำนวน 69 ตัว อุ้มท้องจนครบกำหนดคลอด 24 ตัว คิดเป็นอัตราการคลอดลูกแฝด 12.5 % ลูกแฝด 3 คู่ที่เกิดนี้ เป็นแฝดต่างเพศ 2 คู่ แฝดคู่เมีย 1 คู่ ลูกแฝดนี้มีน้ำหนัก แรกคลอดต่ำกว่าลูกกระบือที่คลอดตัวเดียว 5-10 กก. ลูกกระบือ 3 ตัวตายเมื่ออายุ 1,3 และ 36 วัน ลูกกระบือทั้ง 3 ตัวที่เหลือ เพศเมีย 1 ตัวที่เลี้ยงรอดชีวิตจนถึงปัจจุบันเกิดจากแฝดต่างเพศเป็น freemartin

Investigationinto The Role Of Goats And Sheep In The Epidemiology Of Foot-And-Mouth Disease In Northern Thailand, Pornchai Chomnanpood, Laurence Gleeson

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Investigations were carried out to determine whether goats and sheep were involved in the endemic cycle of foot-and-mouth disease in Northern Thailand. Evidence was obtained from serological surveys and an outbreak investigation. Serological data on surveyed flock was obtained from the virus neutralization test and the virus infection associated antigen agar gel diffusion test. It appeared that infection with all 3 endemic serotypes of foot-and-mouth disease virus occurred in goats and sheep, although in some cases the infection was subclinical.

พิษเฉียบพลันของเมททิลพาราไธออนในกุ้งกุลาดำ, สถาพร สุวรรณรักษ์, สุพัฒตรา ศรีไชยรัตน์, จิรศักดิ์ ตั้งตรงไพโรจน์

ศึกษาความเป็นพิษของเมททิลพาราไธออนที่ขนาดความเข้มข้น 1-90 ไมโครกรัม ต่อลิตร (ppb) ในกุ้งกุลาดำขนาด 10.9 ± 0.5 เซนติเมตร 7 กลุ่ม โดยวิธีแบบแช่ พบว่าค่า LC50 ภายใน 96 ชั่วโมง เท่ากับ 54 ppb อาการแสดงของความเป็นพิษและอัตราการตายขึ้นอยู่ กับความเข้มข้นของสารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชที่ให้ สมรรถนะของเอนไซม์โฆลีนเอสเทอเรสในเลือดกุ้งที่ได้รับสารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชไม่สอดคล้องกับความเป็นพิษที่ได้รับ ในขณะที่สมรรถนะของเอนไซม์ โฆลีนเอสเทอเรสในเส้นประสาทและกล้ามเนื้อลดลงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) เปอร์เซ็นต์ ของสมรรถนะของเอนไซม์ที่ลดลงขึ้นอยู่กับความเข้มข้นของเมททิลพาราไธออนที่ได้รับ ผลทางจุลพยาธิวิทยาแสดงว่ามีการตายของเซลล์ตับและตับอ่อนและเซลล์กล้ามเนื้อ ความรุนแรงขึ้นกับความเข้มข้นของเมททิลพาราไธออนที่ได้รับ (1-50 ppb) และระยะเวลาที่สัมผัส ส่วนกลุ่มทดลอง 75-90 ppb ไม่พบริการดังกล่าว ผลการทดลองชี้ให้เห็นว่าการวัดสมรรถนะของเอนไซม์โฆลีนเอสเทอเรสในกล้ามเนื้อและในเส้นประสาทของกุ้งกุลาดำสามารถใช้เป็นตัวบ่งชี้ถึงความเป็นพิษของสารเคมีกำจัดศัตรูพืชกลุ่มออกาโนฟอสเฟตได้

Some Relationships Between Sexual Behavioural Parameters And Semen Characteristics In The Boar, Jamroen Thiengtham

This study examined the correlations between some sexual behaviour parameters and semen characteristics. Five mature crossbred boars were housed individually and were trained for semen collection using a dummy sow in a collection pen. Semen was collected twice weekly from each boar by the gloved-hand technique during the 4-week study period. Forty-three ejaculates were obtained from these experimental boars. The osteoclast, a multinucleated giant cell, has as its role the resorption of bone matrix with consequent release of calcium. The osteoclast is thought to derive from a pluripotent stem cell which also gives rise to monocytes and macrophages. The development, activation, and inhibition of osteoclasts are influenced by a number of systemic and local factors. The release of these factors is influenced by changes in the dietary status of the animal. Calcium deficiency is known to stimulate the recruitment and activity of large numbers of osteoclasts. Examination Of Community Mental Health Services For Persons With Serious Mental Illness: A Descriptive Study Of 31 Counties In Michigan, Pamela C. Werner

Thirty-one out of 55 Community Mental Health Boards participated in a survey conducted by the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Michigan. This study examined a number of variables in the questionnaire using a product-moment correlational analysis.

Results indicated that family and consumer input is modestly correlated with comprehensive service delivery and staff/consumer education and training. Budget and the active number of mentally ill cases had a low correlation with comprehensive service delivery and staff/consumer education and training. Interagency collaboration was modestly correlated with program evaluation, and comprehensive services available to consumers. Weaknesses were noted in the management structure of …

Trimethyltin (TMT) is a neurotoxin occurring in the environment. Exposure to (TMT) is known to destroy specific neuronal components of the hippocampus in the rat and to cause clinical symptoms in exposed humans, including mnemonic deficits, that indicate hippocampal involvement. In addition to hippocampal cell loss TMT causes significant increases in cholinergic markers such as acetylcholinesterase (AChE) stain density and choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activity in the hippocampus of rats. However, despite these observations the effect of TMT on hippocampal cholinergic system has not been investigated in detail.
