Long-Term Patency Of Stent Angioplasty For Aortoiliac Occlusive Disease: A Literature Review, Ira H. Siagian, Alexander J. Utama

The New Ropanasuri Journal of Surgery

Introduction. Surgical revascularization remains a definitive therapy for aortoiliac occlusive disease. Revascularization could be achieved via endovascular treatment using angioplasty or open surgery. A limited number of studies currently assess the long-term patency of stent angioplasty of aortiliac occlusive disease. This study aims to evaluate or find recent evidence regarding the evaluation of the long-term patency of stent angioplasty for the treatment of aortoiliac occlusive disease.

Method. Literature searching was conducted through several online databases, including Cochrane, PubMed, and EBSCOHost. Several cohort and randomized controlled studies assessing long-term patency of stent angioplasty ranging from bare metal stent to balloon angioplasty …

Targeted Teacher Education To Improve Primary Preservice Teachers’ Knowledge And Understanding Of Uv And Effective Sun Protection Measures For Children, Joseph J. Scott, Robyn S. Johnston, Natasha Bear, Sonia Gregory, Sally Blane, Mark Strickland, Jill Darby, Elin S. Gray

Australian Journal of Teacher Education

Teachers are responsible for children at school during peak ultraviolet (UV) times of the day. It is paramount that teachers have knowledge and understanding of UV to effectively protect themselves and their students. The aim of this pilot study was to investigate the effect of a short intervention on preservice teachers’ sun protective behaviours, knowledge and perceived skill to teach sun safety. Participants (n =161; median age=20 years) attended a 45-minute preservice teacher sun safety intervention and completed pre- and post-test surveys. Post-intervention, most participants indicated they felt: i) more informed about the dangers of UV and risks of developing …

Elections: Elections And Primaries Through The Pandemic, Joseph M. Brickman, Logan D. Kirkes

Georgia State University Law Review

The 2020 election cycle was all but normal. Due to certain health concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgia delayed its primary election three months from March to June and summarily mailed absentee ballot request forms to all active, registered voters. From presidential social media postings to a federal lawsuit, debate ensued over the widespread usage of absentee ballots, their overall effectiveness and security, who would receive request forms, and whether postage requirements qualified as an impermissible poll tax. To further compound these uncertainties, Georgia legislators, who are not permitted to fundraise or campaign during the forty-day legislative session, had …

The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment of primary renal hydatidosis. A thorough review of the literature was made using the PubMed database. Cystic echinococcosis is a disease that results from infection with the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus, a tiny tapeworm found in dogs (definitive host), sheep, cattle, goats, foxes and pigs, amongst others (intermediate hosts).

Humans are accidentally intermediate hosts, who become infected by direct contact with infected dogs, by ingesting contaminated raw or undercooked vegetables or by drinking contaminated water. Renal involvement by hydatid disease is uncommon (less than 3-4%), …

Examining Universal Primary Healthcare Through Community-Based Initiatives, Donald E. Warden

Oglethorpe Journal of Undergraduate Research

This paper examines enacting community-based primary healthcare programs and initiatives. It looks at the weaknesses of past attempts, the successes of current attempts, and gives insight into ways everyday citizens can change the way the world does healthcare. There are social, economic, and political barriers as to why these programs are not enacted. Since 1978, Member states of the United Nations strive towards healthcare for all. The original 1978 Declaration of Alma-Ata sets the bar at achieving this goal by the year 2000. Now in the 21st century, the world still battles inadequate healthcare. Nations continue to strive towards …
