This study examines the innovation sources and processes of regional financial services firms through inductive field research. Innovation in these firms, and presumably other financial services firms and other smaller organizations, originate primarily out of three sources, the drive for efficiency, the external environment, and strategic, ambidextrous management. Successfully innovative firms balance the short-term need for efficiency improvements with the long-term desire to grow primarily through visionary, yet adaptive, leadership.

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence of disaster mitigation in Bantul, Indonesia. The expected utility theory and impact of regional characteristics on individual perceptions was used to describe the disaster risk management process. The regional mapping based on hazard level was conducted by a Geographical Information System (GIS). Data used in this research were primary and secondary data. Entrepreneurial Inclination Among Business Students: A Malaysian Study, Yet-Mee Lim, Teck-Heang Lee, Boon-Liat Cheng

Entrepreneurship has been the fundamental topics of discussion among the politicians, economists, and academics. Business creation is especially critical in developing countries to stimulate economic growth. The present study attempts to examine entrepreneurial inclination among students who are a potential source of entrepreneurs. The findings of the present research study indicate that majority of our business students are not entrepreneurial-inclined. They do not seem to possess strong entrepreneurial characteristics and entrepreneurial skills, and they are not keen in starting a new business. The roles of higher institutes of education and the government in promoting entrepreneurship are discussed.

This research aims to study the intentions of students in entrepreneurship by using the theory of planned behavior of Fishbein and Ajzein. This study was conducted in six state universities in Indonesia, namely University A in Northern Sumatra, University B in Western Sumatra, University C in Jakarta, University D in Yogyakarta, University E in Eastern Java and University F in Southern Sulawesi with total sample of 600 final year students. Conflict can be functional or dysfunctional to the organization’s performance. This study focused on the relationship between conflict approaches implemented by the project manager based on project team member’s perception on the effectiveness of the project manager in managing project’s conflict. Questionnaires were modified from Barker et al. (1988) to measure conflict management approaches and outcomes of managing project conflict. Applying A Two-Step Maximum Likelihood Method To Examine The Deposit Insurance Program Of Taiwan, David K. Wang, Chun-Chou Wu, Heng-Chih Chou

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

This paper examines the deposit insurance program of Taiwan. We adopt Duan et al. [4]’s deposit insurance pricing model, and estimate the deposit insurance premium by the Duan and Simonato two-step maximum likelihood method [5]. Our results show that the maximum likelihood estimates for the deposit insurance premium are considerably higher than the official rates currently charged by the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), the deposit insuring agency of Taiwan, indicating that the CDIC deposit insurance program appears to hand out a substantial subsidy to the banks in Taiwan. The purpose of this paper is to examine the strategic orientation in terms of Miles and Snow typologies of the firms in emerging country and investigate their implications on performance. Unlike previous research, this paper focuses the importance of strategy implementation to the performance implications of Miles and Snow typology. Data was collected from 111 key informants from firms in Thailand’s chemical industry using probability sampling. The one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) results showed that prospectors performed better than the other three strategic types, whereas reactors exhibited the lowest performance scores. They have inadequate capital to support businesses run by cooperatives and the government provides insufficient support for the worker cooperatives. The problem under study is how human resources management affected the capital of worker cooperatives. This article aims to discover the primary factor motivating this shift.
