Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's strategic plan has stated the following management goal for the Missouri River: Restore, protect, and maintain the diversity of historic Missouri River habitats, resources, and ecosystem functions in order that present and future generations may enjoy consumptive and non-consumptive outdoor recreational opportunities (NGPC 1996). To accomplish this goal the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission identified the following five objectives: • To restore terrestrial and aquatic floodplain habitat types by 2008. This would include old oxbows, chutes, side channels, sand bars, backwaters, wetlands, and other shallow water habitats. To restore ftows that reflect the natural …

"This report is the second of a series of three reports being prepared for the work done on the Kankakee River based on a Conservation 2000 Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The present report focuses on the bank erosion mapping of the main stem of the Kankakee River from Route 30 Bridge in Indiana to the mouth of the Kankakee River with the Illinois River near Wilmington. A total of 111.8 river miles were mapped during a boat trip November 19 – December 1, 1998. The relative magnitude of erosion was based on a visual assessment of …

Ecology Of The Missouri River. Progress Report, Dingell-Johnson Project F-75-R-23, Supplement I - Missouri River Creel Survey, Bellevue To Camp Creek, 2 April Through 14 October 2005, Gerald Mestl
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
This report describes Missouri River activities and results related to a channelized Missouri River creel survey conducted from 2 April through 14 October 2005. This is the sixth of a planned annual creel survey to be conducted on alternating sections of the channelized Missouri River to measure changes in recreational fishing activity, especially those changes due to large scale habitat restoration efforts. We returned to the Bellevue to Camp Creek reach in 2005 because we had to cancel the creel on this reach in 2004 after the second creel period due to lack of personnel. Future reports will contain additional …

A survey of dust devils using the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) wide- and narrow-angle (WA and NA) images has been undertaken. The survey comprises two parts: (1) sampling of nine broad regions from September 1997 to July 2001 and (2) a focused seasonal monitoring of variability in the Amazonis region, an active dust devil site, from March 2001 to April 2004. For part 1, dust devils were identified in NA and WA images, and dust devil tracks were identified in NA images. Great spatial variability in dust devil occurrence is highlighted, with Amazonis Planitia being the …

Aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae) Of Kahramanmaraş Province, Turkey, Mahmut Murat Aslan, Nedi̇m Uygun
Turkish Journal of Zoology
This study aimed to identify 68 aphid species and subspecies in Kahramanmaraş from 1998 to 2001. It was found that these species and subspecies were from 35 genera and the subfamilies Aphidinae, Chaitophorinae, Lachninae, Myzocallidinae, Pemphiginae and Pterocommatinae (Aphididae: Aphidoidea). Sixty-eight species, belonging to the tribes Aphidini-Aphidina, Aphidini-Rhopalosiphina, Macrosiphini, Chaitophorini, Cinarini, Lachnini, Myzocallidini, Eriosomatini, Fordini, Pemphigini and Pterocommatini, were examined. Aphis acetosae L., Aphis fabae mordvilkoi Borner and Janich, Cinara cupressi (Buckton) and Nurudea meitanensis (Tsai and Tang) are reported for the first time from Turkey.
