Crustacean Diversity Among The Cystoseira Facies Of The Aegean Coast Of Turkey, Ahmet Kocataş, Tuncer Katağan, Murat Sezgi̇n, Fevzi̇ Kirkim, Cengi̇z Koçak

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This study focused on the crustacean fauna of Cystoseira facies in the upper infralittoral zone of the Turkish Aegean coast. Investigations were carried out at 9 stations along a depth gradient of 2 to 5 m in June and July 1995. A total of 2179 specimens belonging to 81 species were identified. Among the species encountered, Ampithoe ramondi was the most common, with a dominance value of 11%, followed by Leptochelia savignyi (7%). Caprella rapax is recorded for the first time from the Aegean coast of Turkey; Corophium acutum, Corophium rotundirostre and Hippolyte varians are new records for the entire …

Studies On The Crustacea Of The Turks And Caicos Islands, British West Indies. V. Records Of Mysids From Pine Cay, Fort George Cay, Water Cay, And Adjacent Waters, W. Wayne Price, Richard W. Heard

Gulf and Caribbean Research

Only 2 species of mysids, Heteromysis spottei and Stygiomysis clarkei, have been previously reported from the Turks and Caicos Islands. Between 1988 and 1990, 21 species of mysids were collected from reef (to 38 m) and shallow non-reef habitats surrounding Pine Cay, Fort George Cay, and Water Cay, Turks and Caicos Islands. One species collected, Anchialina typica, is distributed throughout tropical and subtropical seas. Twelve species (Bowmaniella johnsoni, Dioptromysis paucispinosa, Heteromysis bermudensis, H. guitarti, H. mayana, Mysidium columbiae, M. gracile, M. integrum, Mysidopsis bispinulata, M. brattstromei, Parvimysis …

The Isopoda Species Found At The Coast Of Bozcaada Island (Ne Aegean Sea), Herdem Aslan, Hüsametti̇n Balkis

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The purpose of this study was to identify Isopoda (Crustacea) fauna at the coast of Bozcaada Island (NE Aegean Sea). Samples were collected at 20 stations in 2000 and 2001, from depths of 0-10 m, using dredges and scoop nets. Ten species were identified belonging to 4 families and 8 genera. Eight of these species were new records for the Isopoda fauna at the coast of Bozcaada Island.

Cu, Zn, Pb And Cd Contents In Some Molluscs And Crustacea Caught In The Gulf Of Antalya, Meltem Yazkan, Feramuz Özdemi̇r, Muharrem Gölükcü

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd contents were analysed in 3 molluscs (Octopus vulgaris, Sepia officinalis, Loligo vulgaris) and in one crustacean sample (Parapenaeus longirostris) caught in the Gulf of Antalya in January-March 2000. In molluscs, Cu content was determined to be between 1.82 and 6.22 mg/kg, and in crustacea, it was determined to be between 4.24 and 7.40 mg/kg. In the mollusc and crustacea specimens Zn content was 10.95-21.52 mg/kg and 11.73-14.27 mg/kg, respectively. Pb and Cd are the 2 most important heavy metals for human health. Pb content was 0.00-0.35 mg/kg and Cd content was 0.23-0.72 …
