A New Species And Additional Record Of Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy(Diptera: Tephritidae) From Turkey With A Key For The Cerajocera Group, Mehmet Yaran, Murat Kütük, Vedat Görmez, Mürşi̇t Ömür Koyuncu

Genus Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 includes approximately 60 species throughout the Palearctic region. Larvae of Terellia develop in the flowerheads of the family Asteraceae. In this study, the authors collected species of Terellia from possible host plants in the summer of 2009 and 2017 in northeastern Turkey using an insect net. Collected materials were pinned and deposited in the Gaziantep University Entomology Laboratory. Upon identification, Terellia (Cerajocera) akguli sp. nov. has been described as a new species and placed in the subgenus Cerajocera. Also, T. (C.) armeniaca Korneyev, 1985 has been recorded for the first time in Turkey with this study. …

Fruit Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) Fauna In Nevşehir And Niğdeprovinces With A New Record From Turkey, Mehmet Yaran, Murat Kütük

This study was based on fruit flies collected from Nevşehir and Niğde provinces in spring and summer of 2012-2013 in Turkey. During the study, samples were collected from host plants randomly or systematically by using an insect net. In the study, 59 species belonging to 17 genera from 4 subfamilies have been determined, and Urophora trinervii (Korneyev and White, 1996) has been recorded for the first time in Turkey. In addition, adult figures of the new record and wing figures of all species are given.

This study was based on fruit flies collected from Aksaray and Mersin provinces in spring and summer of 2012-2013. During the study, samples were collected from host plants randomly or systematically by using an insect net. In the study, 62 species belonging to 21 genera from 5 subfamilies have been determined, and Dioxyna sororcula and Terellia ivannikovi have been recorded for the first time in Turkey. In addition, adult figures of new records and wing figures of all species are given.

This study is based on the fruit fly (Diptera: Tephritidae) materials collected from Adıyaman, Kilis, and Şanlıurfa provinces during 2009 and 2010. Specimens were collected from host plants using an insect net. During this study, 42 species belonging to 13 genera from 3 subfamilies were determined in this region. Urophora tenuis Becker, 1908 is recorded for the first time from Turkey. In addition, zoogeographic distribution and wing figures of all species are given.

A New Species Of Tephritis Latreille (Diptera: Tephritidae) From Turkey, Murat Kütük, Nesli̇han Bayrak, Rüstem Hayat

Tephritis ozaslani sp. nov. is described from Artvin Province of Turkey and placed in the T. pulchra species group. The key to the T. pulchra group is provided, which includes 9 species. The main characters that distinguish the new species from the closely resembling Palaearctic species, T. cometa israilis Freidberg, T. acanthiophilopsis Hering, T. erdemlii Kütük, T. divisa Rondani, T. recurrens Loew, T. merzi Freidberg & Kütük, and T. hurvitzi Freidberg, are discussed. In addition, Inula oculus christi L. (Asteraceae) is determined as a host plant of the new species.

This study is based on the Terellia species collected from 27 provinces of Turkey during 1999-2006. The locality, host plants (including new records), and figures of the wing pattern of each species are given. An identification key to all 15 species of Terellia known from Turkey is presented and their distribution in Turkey and other countries summarized.

A New Species Of Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy (Diptera: Tephritidae) From Turkey, Murat Kütük

Terellia yukseli n. sp. was collected in Turkey from Centaurea urvillei DC. and is described, illustrated, and placed in the subgenus Cerajocera. Type locality is Niğde Sazlıca, and specimens were collected from Centaurea urvillei DC. This species is most similar to T. setifera Hendel and T. clarissima Korneyev in having entirely hyaline wing. It can be distinguished from other species of Terellia by the lack of wing spot pattern, the presence of a spinose antennal horn, and characteristic glans and aculeus. Photographs of the specimens and detailed illustrations of the genitalia structures are provided.

This study is based on the fruit fly material collected in the Kayseri and Sivas provinces of Turkey during 2005 and 2006. Thirty-nine species of fruit flies were identified in the study region. Urophora tenuior Hendel is recorded for the first time from Turkey. The distribution, host plants, and figures of wing patterns of each species are given. The zoogeographic distribution of the species is included.

This study was based on Urophora Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 specimens collected from Turkey during 1999-2005. Urophora doganlari n. sp., reared in flowerhead galls on Centaurea bornmuelleria (Hausskn & Bornmuelleria, 1905), is described from Turkey and placed in the U. quadrifasciata species group. The other species are associated with Centaurea spp. and Ptilostemon spp. The best characters for defining the group are the preapical step in the female aculeus, oviscape length, colour of femora and first flagellomere, wing pattern, and pollinose on the scutum. Samples collected from Turkey belonging to the genus Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 were examined during 2000-2002. Terellia gynaecochroma (Hering, 1937) and T. luteola (Wiedemann, 1830) are new records for the fauna of Turkey.

This study is based on Tephritis species collected from 25 provinces in Turkey during 1999-2003. Twenty-two species of Tephritis were recognized, of which Tephritis mariannae Merz is a new record for the fauna of Turkey. Identification keys to the species were prepared. The locality, host plants and figures of wing pattern of each species are given. Distribution of the species in Turkey and worldwide is included.
