A wide range of the epigenetic effectors that regulate chromatin modification, gene expression, genomic stability, and DNA repair contain structurally conserved domains called plant homeodomain (PHD) fingers. Alternations of several PHD finger-containing proteins (PHFs) due to genomic amplification, mutations, deletions, and translocations have been linked directly to various types of cancer. However, little is known about the genomic landscape and the clinical significance of PHFs in breast cancer. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui: (1) perbedaan pengaruh antara metode uchikomi dengan menggunakan karet ban sepeda dan uchikomi jalan terhadap hasil bantingan judo, (2) perbedaan hasil bantingan antara pejudo yang memiliki flexibility tinggi dan flexibility rendah, dan (3) interaksi antara metode uchikomi dan flexibility terhadap hasil bantingan judo. The regulation of organ growth is a fundamental aspect of developmental biology. My work uses Drosophila as a model system to understand how the various growth regulators are coordinated. The transcriptional repressor Capicua (Cic) controls tissue patterning and restricts organ growth, and has been recently implicated in several cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. Cic has emerged as a primary sensor of signaling downstream of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway, but how Cic activity is regulated in different cellular contexts remains poorly understood. The deep sea is the Earth’s largest ecosystem and harbors a unique and largely endemic fauna. Although most research has focused on the ecological mechanisms that allow coexistence, recent studies have begun to investigate how this remarkable fauna evolved.. My work quantifies geographic patterns of genetic variation and investigates potential mechanisms that shape evolution in the deep ocean.

Cisplatin is one of the most commonly used chemotherapy drugs worldwide and one of the most ototoxic. We sought to identify genetic variants that modulate cisplatin-associated ototoxicity (CAO). Experimental Design: We performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of CAO using quantitative audiometry (4-12 kHz) in 511 testicular cancer survivors of European genetic ancestry. We performed polygenic modeling and functional analyses using a variety of publicly available databases. We used an electronic health record cohort to replicate our top mechanistic finding. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by the abnormal proteolytic processing of amyloid precursor protein, resulting in increased production of a self-aggregating form of beta amyloid (Aβ). Several lines of work on AD patients and transgenic mice with high Aβ levels exhibit altered rhythmicity, aberrant neuronal network activity and hyperexcitability reflected in clusters of hyperactive neurons, and spontaneous epileptic activity. Recent studies highlight that abnormal accumulation of Aβ changes intrinsic properties of inhibitory neurons, which is one of the main reasons underlying the impaired network activity. Evolutionary processes greatly impact the outcomes of biological invasions. An extensive body of research suggests that invasive populations often undergo phenotypic and ecological divergence from their native sources. Evolution also operates at different and distinct stages during the invasion process. Thus, it is important to incorporate evolutionary change into frameworks of biological invasions because it allows us to conceptualize how these processes may facilitate or hinder invasion success. Recent heritability analyses have indicated that genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have the potential to improve genetic risk prediction for complex diseases based on polygenic risk score (PRS), a simple modelling technique that can be implemented using summary-level data from the discovery samples. We herein propose modifications to improve the performance of PRS. We introduce threshold-dependent winner’s-curse adjustments for marginal association coefficients that are used to weight the single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in PRS. Further, as a way to incorporate external functional/annotation knowledge that could identify subsets of SNPs highly enriched for associations, we propose variable thresholds for SNPs selection. Cross-feeding, a relationship wherein one organism consumes metabolites excreted by another, is a ubiquitous feature of natural and clinically-relevant microbial communities and could be a key factor promoting diversity in extreme and/or nutrient-poor environments. However, it remains unclear how readily cross-feeding interactions form, and therefore our ability to predict their emergence is limited. In this paper we developed a mathematical model parameterized using data from the biochemistry and ecology of an E. coli cross-feeding laboratory system. BACKGROUND: The initial acquisition and early development of the intestinal microbiome during infancy are important to human health across the lifespan. Mode of birth, antibiotic administration, environment of care, and nutrition have all been shown to play a role in the assembly of the intestinal microbiome during early life. In all multicellular organisms, the fundamental processes of cell proliferation and cell death are crucial for growth regulation during organogenesis. Strict regulation of cell death is important to maintain tissue homeostasis by affecting processes like regulation of cell number, and elimination of unwanted/unfit cells. The developing Drosophila eye is a versatile model to study patterning and growth, where complex signaling pathways regulate growth and cell survival. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying regulation of these processes is not fully understood. Many of the chronic illnesses disproportionately experienced by Native Hawaiians are directly related to poor diets and long-standing obesity beginning in childhood. We report on the findings of in-depth key informant interviews (N = 14) that took place in two Native Hawaiian communities as part of a larger, community-based participatory research study that included a community assessment through individual interviews and focused group discussions, and a pilot intervention targeting pregnant women, their infants, and families. Background Acanthamoebidae is a “family” level amoebozoan group composed of the genera Acanthamoeba, Protacanthamoeba, and very recently Luapeleamoeba. This clade of amoebozoans has received considerable attention from the broader scientific community as Acanthamoeba spp. represent both model organisms and human pathogens. While the classical composition of the group (Acanthamoeba + Protacanthamoeba) has been well accepted due to the morphological and ultrastructural similarities of its members, the Acanthamoebidae has never been highly statistically supported in single gene phylogenetic reconstructions of Amoebozoa either by maximum likelihood (ML) or Bayesian analyses. Cytochrome c can acquire peroxidase activity when it binds to cardiolipin in mitochondrial membranes. The resulting oxygenation of cardiolipin by cytochrome c provides an early signal for the onset of apoptosis. The structure of this enzyme-substrate complex is a matter of considerable debate. We present three structures at 1.7-2.0 Å resolution of a domain-swapped dimer of yeast iso-1-cytochrome c with the detergents, CYMAL-5, CYMAL-6, and ω-undecylenyl-β-d-maltopyranoside, bound in a channel that places the hydrocarbon moieties of these detergents next to the heme. Paprikas were soaked in 90% (V/V) ethanol to extract capsaicinoids by using ultrasonic and microwave assisted extraction (UMAE). Based on the results of single factor experiments, the optimized extraction condition were gotten with orthogonal tests: the ultrasonic power of 50 W, the microwave power of 240 W, the solid- solvent ratio of 1∶20 (g/mL), the microwave time of 480 s, the paprikas particle size of 80 mesh, and the extracting time twice. Stem diameter is one of the most commonly measured attributes of trees, forming the foundation of forest censuses and monitoring. Changes in tree stem circumference include both irreversible woody stem growth and reversible circumference changes related to water status, yet these fine-scale dynamics are rarely leveraged to understand forest ecophysiology and typically ignored in plot- or stand-scale estimates of tree growth and forest productivity. In this paper, the type II diabetes model was established and the optimal dose of the pumpkin polysaccharide, pueraria flavonoids and pu-erh theabrowns were determined by measured blood glucose. On the basis, the fasting blood glucose (FBG), insulin (INS), insulin resistance (IR), high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) were also investigated. The FBG, INS, IR, HDL, LDL combined group was significantly better than the single component (P<0.05). The results revealed that the combinations of pumpkin polysaccharide and pu-erh theabrowns, pueraria flavonoids and pu-erh theabrowns were effective. The laws of cell growth, product formation and substrate consumption during mulberry wine fermentation were studied with mulberry juice. The kinetic models were established through Logistic model equation to fit the curves of cell growth, product formation and substrate consumption. The results showed as follows: When the initial sugar concentration was 200 g/L, the inoculation of activated yeast was 5%, and the fermentation time lasted for 100 h at 28 ℃, the residual sugar concentration of fermentation broth decreased to 3.86 g/L, the number of yeast increased to 2.83×108 CFU/mL and the ethanol concentration reached 9.01%. The effect of pH value in preparation process on proximate composition, yield and functional properties including gel strength, melting temperature and turbidity of gelatin from bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis) scale was investigated. Moreover, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was used to evaluate the change of molecular weight distribution for fish gelatin. The results indicated that regardless of pH values in the range of 3.0~7.0 for preparation process, fish gelatin had a high quality with high protein content and low ash content. This research investigated the influence of setting temperature and time on the gel properties of glucono-δ-lactone (GDL)-induced surimi gel. The results showed that the acidification rate increased with the temperature increasing from 30 ℃ to 50 ℃. Consequently, the time for the gel pH to stabilize decreased which induce to the decline of gel strength and the increase of the expressible water content of GDL-induced surimi gel. It is indicated that protein subunits solubilized in various solvents revealed that the formation of GDL-induced surimi gel mainly through hydrophobic interactions and it increased with temperature. SLIC method segments the granular image into superpixel block which will reduce the complexity of the subsequent image processing. As SLIC superpixel segmentation method doesn’t use the texture feature in the distance calculation, the detail of the outline for the granular object is lost. In this study, five quality indicators, i.e. moisture, soluble solid content, total sugar content, titratable acid content and hardness, of apple chips during processing period were analyzed by analytic hierarchy process, and quality scores was obtained. Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) combined with partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) was applied for the prediction of quality scores of apple chips. The results showed that the correlation coefficients between predicted category variable of calibration and the measured category variable were 0.84, 0.63 and 0.89, and the root mean square error of cross validation were 0.26, 0.34 and 0.22 for each quality category, respectively. …

It was aimed to analyze the volatile components and key volatile components of Lanzhou fat-tailed sheep in different gender in this study, and the small fat-tail sheep were chosen as control. The results showed that Lanzhou fat-tailed wethers contained totally 80 kinds of volatile materials, while ewes had 85 kinds. Aldehydes were found the key volatile components, and the relative contents were respectively 31.110% and 22.305%. The key volatile components contained decanal, octanal, nonanal, 2, 4-nonadienal, 2-nonenal, 2,4-decadienal and (E)-2-decenal, which smelled like wax, fat, mushroom and cucumber, and wethers contained 2 more kinds aldehydes than ewes. Studied the change of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP) in different growth periods, by using the wolfberries in different growth periods as research objects, and analyzed the LBP composition by HPLC. Taking VC as the control sample, the LBP’s activities of scavenging hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anions, DPPH and ABTS were analyzed and compared in different growth periods. The rheological characteristics of LBP in different growth periods were analyzed by a rheometer. A strain of high yield acetic acid bacteria LMY-1 was isolated from 10 kinds of ferment samples by isolation and purification, the acid qualitative and quantitative screen for producing. The strain was identified as Acetobacter cibinongensis by analysis of morphology, physiological and biochemical indicators and identification of 16S rDNA. The growth and acid-producing characteristics of strain LMY-1 was studied by fruit and vegetable culture medium with apple, pear and cucumber.
