Field & Commercial Crops
An Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program integrates control tactics including cultural practices, variety selection, biological control and insecticides to manage insect pest populations so that economic damage and harmful environmental side effects are minimized. Insecticides should only be used on an as-needed basis; therefore, insect scouting must be conducted regularly throughout the season to determine if an insecticide application is warranted.

Plant Pathology Faculty Patents
The invention provides Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) vectors useful for expression of heterologous proteins in plants such as soybean. The BPMV vectors are also useful for virus-induced gene silencing. The invention also provides methods for expressing a heterologous polypeptide in a plant such as soybean. The invention additionally provides methods for virus-induced gene silencing, particularly in a soybean plant, which can be used to determine the function of a gene of interest.

This study was carried out to investigate the yield response of 2 soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) cultivars to different planting dates and plant populations and to examine the relationships of seed yield with leaf area index (LAI) and total dry matter (TDM) during the vegetative and reproductive periods for planting dates, plant populations, and cultivars. Two soybean cultivars, A-3127 (early maturity group, MG-III) and 1530 (late maturity group, MG-IV), were planted in 2 planting dates; mid-April and mid-May during 2005 and 2006 at high (660,000 plant ha^{-1}) and low (330,000 plant ha^{-1}) plant populations. Plantings in mid-April increased seed …

Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Series
Soybean cultivar performance tests are conducted each year in Arkansas by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. The tests provide information to companies developing cultivars and/or marketing seed within the state, and aid the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in formulating cultivar recommendations for soybean producers
Isoflavone Distribution In Soy Seed And Antioxidant Activity Of Defatted Soy Flour Extract, Xiaohua Yue
Isoflavone Distribution In Soy Seed And Antioxidant Activity Of Defatted Soy Flour Extract, Xiaohua Yue
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Soy isoflavones distribution in soy cotelydon, coat and germ were determined. The ƒÀ-Glucoside form of isoflavones was the major class of isoflavones in all three soy parts. Soy germ was the richest source of the isoflavones among the three soybean parts. Distribution of the isoflavones in soy cotyledon was different from that in soy coat or germ. As defatted soy flour is a main byproduct in the soy oil refining process, utilizing the low value byproduct as a valuable food antioxidant was investigated in this study. The level of isoflavones in the defatted soy flour extract was 55 mg/g, which …
