This statewide survey report on vineyards and wineries in Oregon covers bearing and nonbearing acres, size of vineyard operation, variety and county, size distribution, prices, yields, crush, inventory, and sales. The report also contains some comparisons of data for 2002 and 2003. According to this report, the number of vineyards and wineries in Oregon reached a record high in 2003, with nearly 1.2 million cases of wine sold.

The memorial program for Dr. Jane Claire Dirks-Edmunds includes the order of events as well as sheet music for two hymns to be sung at the service. Former Linfield president Charles Walker read a poem at the service, held on January 8, 2004 at Hillside Manor in McMinnville, a retirement community where Dirks-Edmunds had been living.
Dr. Dirks-Edmunds graduated from Linfield College in 1937; she returned to teach in the Biology department at Linfield from 1941-1974. Dirks-Edmunds died on December 29, 2003.

It is likely that the idea to organize southwestern parasitologists into a regional group originated over cocktails one night in the late 1950s during a regional or national meeting. What is clear is that two men—Drs. Robert E. Kuntz and Donald V. Moore— were instrumental in turning the idea into what has become, in reality, the Southwestern Association of Parasitologists (SWAP). Dr. J. Teague Self (personal communication, 1981) stated, “The beginning of SWAP was an idea of Robert Kuntz who felt that something could be gained if several of us here in the southwest could get together …
