Range Liverstock Nutrition And Its Importance In The Intermountain Region, C. Wayne Cook Dec 1956

Range Liverstock Nutrition And Its Importance In The Intermountain Region, C. Wayne Cook

Faculty Honor Lectures

It has been estimated that about 728 million acres or about 76 percent of the entire land area in the West is used for grazing (Stoddard and Smith 1956). In Utah about 93 percent of the land area or 48,900,000 acres is considered range land (Reuss and Blanch 1951). Although some of this range land is forested, a large area of it can be used only for grazing. Therefore, range livestock production is an important segment of western agriculture.

Before 19'00 most of the animals in the West grazed on the range all year. However, irrigation crop production has expanded …

You Can Get More Eggs, Boyd Bonzer, Lloyd Shinnick

SDSU Extension Circulars

One of the most common causes of lost profits and failure in poultry keeping is the lack of planning and foresight. A good poultryman is alert and wide awake; he is a person who spends a lot of time with small details-one who can watch his birds and sense when they start to get sick or go out of condition. He is a person who plans ahead and is prepared for the different phases of poultry management as the birds grow and mature.

The South Dakota Farmer And The Soil Bank, Lyle Bender, Arthur Anderson

SDSU Extension Circulars

The Soil Bank is a program designed to help reduce farm production and bring it more in line with consumption. While this adjustment is under way government payments are being made to help maintain net farm income. This circular has been prepared to provide information on the Soil Bank--what it is, how it will operate, and what the general consequences might be. It is not . a publication of program regulations. The regulations are available at county ASC offices. The Soil Bank program involves legal contracts between the ASC and the farmer. It is therefor essential that individual farmers check …

Studies On The Helminth Fauna Of Alaska. Xxv. The Ecology And Public Health Significance Of Echinococcus Sibiricensis Rausch & Schiller, 1954, On St. Lawrence Island, Robert L. Rausch, Everett L. Schiller

Harold W. Manter Laboratory of Parasitology: Faculty and Staff Publications

The occurrence of a species of Echinococcus (Rudolphi, 1801) on St Lawrence Island was noted by the writers in early 1950. Recognition of its unusual host relationships led to an investigation of the ecology of this cestode, E. sibiricensis Rausch & Schiller, 1954. It is the purpose of this paper to report the results of this work, with emphasis on alveolar hydatid disease in man, of which this cestode is the etiologic agent.

Lum Woodruff, An Early Meteorologist In Michigan And Texas, S. W. Geiser

Field and Laboratory

The present fragmentary note on an early meteorologist in Texas is published in the hope that further information of Mr. Woodruff may be forthcoming. Fourteen years ago (Southwestern Historical Quarterly, 45, 284, 1942) I published a very brief note on Woodruff in the vain hope that the historians of Texas might be able to clear up the obscurities of his life; I hope that the present note, which goes to meteorologists and historians of science, may meet with a better fate. At least I shall have put on record what are the known facts regarding Mr. Lum Woodruff.
