Library censorship efforts in the U.S. have broken records annually since 2021, spurred by social, technological, and political developments. These censorship efforts most frequently target diverse media representing Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and/or lesbian, gay, bisexual+, trans+, queer, intersex, and asexual+ (LGBTQIA+) communities in and at libraries. The current surge in attempts to censor library materials constitutes part of a greater conservative political strategy in the contemporary culture wars. This literature review analyzes the academic and professional literature alongside the gray literature regarding these censorship efforts to make sense of these trends. Attitudes Of Undergraduate Students Toward The Utilization Of Multimedia Resources In University Of Ibadan, Mojisola Omowumi Odewole

This study investigated attitudes of undergraduate students toward the utilization of multimedia resources in University of Ilorin. Descriptive survey was adopted and a sample of 392 undergraduate students were randomly selected across the fifteen faculties in University of Ilorin by using multi-stage random sampling technique. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 392 selected sample, out of which 376 copies of the questionnaire were completely filled and returned. Data collected for the four research questions were analyzed using frequency counts and percentages while PPMC was used to test the only null hypothesis of the study. The study found that …

The present study highlights the roles of public libraries in the socio-economic development of rural areas in the digital age with special reference to the Government District Library- Ahwa. A total no. of 60 questionnaires were distributed to a library, using a survey to collect data. Out of which 45 users gave their responses. The study found that all respondents indicated that they were using the public library for reading purposes. Followed by 75.56% respondents to prepare competitive exams, 71.11% to improve general knowledge, and very few users using the library for other purposes. The majority 53.33% of users had …

This presentation was given by the Salary Task Force (STF) members, Jamie Rogers, Annia Gonzalez, and Kelley Rowan at an FIU Libraries First Thursday's Forum. Members of the task force presented the results from two surveys, including cost of living research and SUS salary analysis and comparisons. Afterwards, attendees were invited to ask questions and express their concerns before the task force publishes the final report. The research in this presentation is based on surveys and research conducted by all Salary Task Force members.

Tangible Impact Of Literacy In Libraries And Information Undergraduate Academic Performance Skills Students At Kwara State University, Nigeria, Abdrahman Atanda Moustapha

PURPOSE: The paper examined the effect of library skills and literacy on the academic performance of undergraduate students at Kwara State University, Nigeria.

DESIGN/METHODOLOGY: A descriptive survey method and random sampling techniques were used with 150 randomly selected students for the research. A self-designed questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents, and a simple percentage ratio was adapted for data analysis.

Findings: The result shows that most of the students do not have access to literacy facilities. It reveals a lack of application skills by the majority but shows the positive impact of information literacy on students' academic …

User Satisfaction A Predictor To Library Patronage Among Undergraduate Students In Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, Lateefat Adeola Badmus Miss, Japheth Abdulazeez Yaya Dr

This paper investigated user satisfaction as a predictor to library patronage among undergraduate students in Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The instrument used was a self-developed questionnaire by the researchers. The questionnaire validation was subjected to the scrutiny of the experts in the areas of the variables studied; it gave a reliability coefficient of 0.855 (85.5%) for library patronage and 0.837 (83.7%) for user satisfaction. A response rate of 100% was achieved. Data were analyzed using descriptive (percentage, mean, average mean and standard deviation) and inferential (Pearson Product Moment Correlation) statistics. Objectives: The objective of this study is to discover and synthesize the concepts and contents of the literature published in health sciences education journals investigating the experiences of LGBTQIA+ health sciences students. Methods: Literature searches were performed in Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, and ERIC databases based on an established PubMed search strategy and adapted for each database. Results were limited to the contents of a selection of health sciences education journals. Studies were required to focus on the experiences of health sciences students identifying as LGBTQIA+ and their perceptions of these experiences. Results: Searches yielded 695 citations. This paper examined the level of leadership and job performance of library personnel in University of Abuja, Nigeria. Survey research methodology was used with a total sample size of 202 library personnel in University of Abuja library using simple random sampling techniques. Data was collected mainly through questionnaire and analyzed using frequency distribution and descriptive statistics. Investigative research, focused on users' perception and use of serial materials, was conducted in academic libraries at Kwara State University library, Nigeria. The study population consisted of users in the respective faculties. A stratified random sampling method was used to select the sample. A questionnaire dealing with users' perception and use of serial materials was conducted on 4500 users registered in the Kwara State University library. The collected data was analyzed mainly by frequency counts and simple percentages. Study results indicate that university users occasionally use serial materials. This article explores the impetus, progress, and challenges encountered in developing and managing a library-wide decolonial metadata project at Florida International University (FIU) Libraries. The goal of this initiative is to develop inclusive metadata within our digital collections and finding aids that represent the communities we serve and to develop a metadata remediation plan that ameliorates the harm done by antiquated language.
